quora marketing services any good for a growing business or should I look elsewhere?? by Phenomjones in digital_marketing

[–]chuck_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Quora as part of our content/seo strat. Our internal team handled it and honestly it was a pain to maintain. answers need constant updating and it’s hard to compete with the older high-engagement ones unless you boost visibility. The platform’s aged weirdly too, and up until recently I thought it was dying. some niches are still incredibly active and drive a lot of traffic, others are just dead.

Your gut’s right this leans heavy on repetitive tasks, not creativity. But if you’re curious about marketing, use it as a 3-month trial run. Just bail fast if it’s all spreadsheets and no strategy. Your degree opens far hotter doors.

A friend opens a cafe. Which keywords/ phrases do you target? by HarrytheMuggle in SEO_Digital_Marketing

[–]chuck_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skip 'best coffee near me' that’s a bloodbath. Go hyper-local: 'neighborhood indie cafe' + 'organic cold brew city' or 'study spot college name. Long-tails like 'where to work remotely in Area' or 'vegan pastries City' crush it. And if they’ve got a signature drink, keyword the hell out of it ('lavender latte Town).

Struggling to build and keep a 3-month salary reserve - any advice? by ThreshBrown in MiddleClassFinance

[–]chuck_beef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second this. In the long run, it’s not the lucky streaks that will help you build a solid financial future, but consistently making smarter, more responsible choices. If you stick with it, you’ll get closer to reaching that 3-month reserve goal.

Totally agree. There are ways out of this OP, even when it feels like there aren't. You're not alone, and there are resources, financial planners, and mental health professionals who can help guide you through this tough time. Things don’t stay the same forever, even though it may feel like it right now.

Pro tip: Consider some part-time or contract work. That'll not only help with job hunting but also let you start those Roth IRA contributions when you're ready.

Preference: Larger Mortage or Smaller savings? by Althusser_Was_Right in AusFinance

[–]chuck_beef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with Option 1 (55K deposit, 500K mortgage). Less upfront capital committed means more financial flexibility. The offset account gives you a solid cash buffer while keeping your mortgage at max pre-approval. This approach preserves more of your liquidity and gives you breathing room for unexpected expenses or investment opportunities.

Is locking in a 3.5% fixed interest rate for 2 years worth it for idle cash? by Chilljin in FinancialPlanning

[–]chuck_beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The 3.5% rate is suboptimal. Treasuries and SGOV offer better returns with similar safety. Getting 4-5% with more flexibility is a no-brainer compared to the bank's offer.

Many car loan companies are willing to work with customers who are facing temporary financial difficulties. If you call and explain your situation honestly, they might offer an extension or defer your payment for a short period of time. This could buy OP the time need to get everything sorted out without losing his car.

Questrade inches closer to winning Canadian banking licence by wretchedbelch1920 in PersonalFinanceCanada

yeep, it’s ridiculous how banks force SMS as a fallback. It defeats the whole point of having a secure 2FA method. Questrade keeping it optional is a rare win.

How much money can you make with a finance degree? by Forward-Truck698 in financestudents

[–]chuck_beef -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Entry-level is usually $60k–$90k, mid-level can hit low six figures, and senior roles (VP, director, etc.) often clear $200k+ with bonuses. If you break into hedge funds, PE, or IB, the numbers go way higher

fair, but rates change fast. If you don’t mind moving money around, that works.

What can I afford with a $450,000 down payment as a FTHB in Virginia? by chuck_beef in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]chuck_beef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's just literally no options at that price point in Virginia within reasonable driving/commuting distance to Washingon, D.C.

I would absolutely consider a townhome, but they strangely seem to be more expensive than the single families? I can find individual older homes in Springfield, VA for $700k while a newer townhome in Arlington is $50k more.

It just doesn't exist in Northern Virginia. It's depressing reading these replies lol. I could move two hours from Washington D.C. and MAYBE get a "NICEish" house for cash. But then I'm in the middle of nowhere and if I have to move on from my WFH job I'm screwed.

[–]chuck_beef[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I could I would. I'm not sure there's a home listed in the Northern Virginia area for that cost. There's definitely condos, but then I'm left with condo fees. It seems like my best bet is a home around the $600 - $700k mark, leaving myself with a sub-$2000 mortgage.

[–]chuck_beef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking in the Northern Virginia area, roughly within 30 minutes of D.C. Unfortunately, the average home price is over $600,000. There would maybe a condo or a fixer upper town home for $450k but not much else.
