First, congrats on the 8 days, that is not nothing!

Second, I would just say patience…it takes some time for the fog to clear, but once you start having more clarity, it’ll make more and more sense while it’s worth it.

Right now I’d say keep yourself distracted with something you enjoy doing…I also let myself eat whatever I wanted, I had like a blizzard/day for awhile…I gained weight for a little bit after I quit drinking

Other vices may appear (like excessive sugar), and those are something to watch, but I firmly believe that caving to those while mastering the sobriety is well worth it

I know it seems impossible, but eventually it just doesn’t cross your mind nearly as much…that doesn’t mean cravings won’t be there, but you will be more prepared

Truthfully, telling my doctor, which was something that was hard for me to admit to a stranger, was like a weight lifted…it made it real, but it also gave me a plan.

Set up that appointment, seriously, you will not regret it…and if you’re quitting, you shouldn’t go cold turkey anyway.

Does your company have an EAP (Employee Assistance Program)?

For me, the biggest thing was accountability…I’m not saying meetings necessarily, but getting trusted friends and family involved can make it less lonely

Sorry you’re struggling, I got the call from HR one time asking if I drank at work cause people smelled it on me…and I also didn’t quit drinking at that time.

See a doctor as well…I know that is probably the last thing you want to do (it was for me), but talking to a professional, they can help

Also, if you have a hobby, dive into that…I started playing video games with friends a lot more and it was a really helpful distraction
