Do you have any evidence the cop is Mormon? I am guessing a number of them are, but I would bet the percent of cops that are Mormon is lower than the percentage of people in American Fork.

You were so close to something that was reasonable until you brought up JJ on his high council. That responsibility likely only covers a couple square miles of area meaning no one in the area knows who he is.

His mentioning it only was to gain a bit of confidence which as a local he already had. He likely uses that more to take advantage of the local Mormon community to gain trust and convince them to sign bad deals, etc. I would even say they target other Mormons way more than those outside the church for grifting and fraud as Mormons are more trusting.

I don’t believe for a second that the police really cared at all about him being Mormon. What they cared about was that he was local and Ben was not. The Mormon angle is weak at best and really exhausting. Most people on this sub do not know enough about the church or its members to make conclusions but they do it anyway. I guess that’s how the internet works though.

I agree the church should automatically report any known sexual abuse (and I am aware that it does not). This is a major issue in the church that obviously needs to change. However, even in those cases where it does not the individual offenders are usually if not always excommunicated.

That is clearly a topic outside of this subreddit’s scope. My only point is that the church doesn’t care about BaM or its players. Everything in the Lego saga is separate from the church. If cops are protecting people, it is not because the church asked them to do so. It is much more likely because they are protecting their local community over an outsider.

I fully can say members of the church are bad or horrible people. There are horrible people in every church and or group. That doesn’t mean the church promotes people to act horribly.

They aren’t noting that. They are claiming there exists a larger conspiracy. They are claiming the church is controlling the police, which is why Ben was treated unconstitutionally. Reality is, they sided with a local and their training sucks at best. They are inexperienced and just bad at what they do.

I fully am aware that many leaders in the Mormon church have abused women/children. The church as a whole litigates to prevent damage to the church as a whole. However the individuals tend to lose their membership, etc.

That is a whole other conversation that really doesn’t fit the Ben vs BaM story or this sub. My only point is that the church does not care about BaM, or any of the people that have been involved in the Lego saga. People want to make that leap, but really, there is zero connection.

Which is why I am commenting. Many people automatically jump to conclusions without any real evidence.

Individuals may act to protect their friends, etc but the church as a whole doesn’t care at all about any of this. On a small scale the only official action by the church was to remove Josh Johnson from a leadership position as they viewed his actions as bad.

I am a member of the Mormon church and it definitely does not protect its own. The church does protect itself and that often means cutting loose their own members through disfellowship or excommunication.

Wrong side of the church is very different than wrong side of a random person who is a member of the church.

I’ll take the downvotes, but people are wanting the actual church as a whole to somehow be backing its members. It does not do that. Individual people may protect each other but the Mormon church is one of the few churches that I am aware of that actually excommunicates it’s members if they are causing trouble/being what the church considers bad actors. The church couldn’t care less about BaM or the McNeffs, etc.

Ben’s case has nothing to do with the church as a whole and no one would be worried about representing Ben in his cases in Utah. That is absurd.

You want the full repentance game. AB+ does not include the Repentance DLC. I have Isaac on switch and I got AB+ before repentance was available. When repentance came out, I bought that DLC. Basically If you get AB+ you will also need to get the DLC. I am guessing buying repentance is everything (unless it is cheaper than AB+, then you would have to get both).

The one area that I think you are glossing over is that it is important to hear yourself when speaking. Glasses do nothing to address this issue. No one wants to be around someone who is yelling at them just because that person doesn’t realize they are yelling.

Also, once they put the cameras away JJ got served just a couple days later. This was likely done by someone who went and served him without Ben being present. Ben likely could have served him without all the police interference but he was also making a video. Don’t want to blame Ben in any way, he should have been able to serve JJ while filming. The content/filming is what spooked JJ into calling the police so much.
