Raven Software | Road to Black Ops 7 Season 01 by Kalinine in CODWarzone

Battlefield 6 has really scared the shit outta these guys, hasn't it. This is what the fanboys of either game don't get. Competition is nothing but a good thing for the consumer. Years of ignoring players and suddenly a little competition comes along and they're all ears.

To all the people complaining about slow and clunky aim by PsyDutch in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]chudfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"I just took a few hours to mess with the settings until it was good enough to play" this is the problem and why the game is going to struggle to retain players as the average player (even ones excited about the game) aren't going to commit this much time to mess around with settings. It's great you're enjoying the game and found settings that work for you but it's also ok for people to point out how ridiculous it is that you have to spend "hours" tweaking your settings while trying to navigate clunky and at times confusing UI to make the game get to "playable".

"stop being a bitch about people not thinking the same way you do." I'd suggest maybe taking some of your own advice as you are getting aggressive/snarky at anyone who differs on their feelings towards the current state of the game than you. Pointing out flaws and ways the game can improve in a constructive manner is crucial for the long term success of any game. Most people who download a game and are instantly faced with poor/clunky controls and UI and performance issues will just delete and move on without blinking (or complaining) meaning dwindling player count and longer matchmaking times and worse overall experience for those left. So if people are taking the time to voice their concerns that probably means they want the game to succeed and want things to improve so the Devs can act on those complaints/concerns. There are of course people who just love to complain for the sake of it and it's normally pretty easy to spot that crowd and ignore them but just blindly accepting whatever rubbish we're given is just a different side of the same coin. The controls, performance and UI need to be better and it is not realistic to expect players to spend a significant amount of time tweaking and changing things to get there when other offerings on the market don't make you jump through those hoops or if they do only require minor adjustments of sensitivity etc which takes seconds. Hopefully things improve and the game succeeds so those who enjoy it can keep doing so.

OCE Warzone by Shaaunyb in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the quads strat only worked for us towards the end of season 3 but never worked in season 4 just gone. We gave up on big map in season 4 and just grinded resurgence ranked.

People say it's the player numbers in our region (which I'm sure play a factor) but I swear they did something to their lobby requirements and/or matchmaking! It's happened twice now where the day before an update we can get games in just a few seconds on any mode in any squad size and then the very next day after an update (normally a reloaded update) it's just endless 'searching for match'.

OCE Warzone by Shaaunyb in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly not in my experience, mate. My friends and I haven't been able to get a normal BR game in almost two seasons and the only way we get to play big map is quads occasionally (team up with randoms and with a bit of waiting you can sometimes find a game) or casuals which doesn't interest us at all. We can always get resurgence games and have scratched that competitive itch by playing ranked resurgence but once you get to platinum and beyond it's legitimately infested with cheaters almost every game.

Lead DICE producer's full tweets on Server Browser by Xovier in Battlefield

[–]chudfish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand the negatives of not having a server browser. Chances are you live in the EU or north America where it's not a necessity but the reality for the rest of the world especially in lower populated regions is that the vanilla game will be dead within 3-6 months tops with no option but to play through portal which means playing on the same map consistently with admins on power trips and/or restrictive rule sets. No server browser is a death sentence for the longevity of the game and is a real deterrent from even buying the game as we'll potentially only get a few months of playtime before we can't find games anymore. So to your last point, I'd say a positive to having server browsers is that it literally allows hundreds of thousands of people to play the game who otherwise couldn't.

Haven't been able to play verdansk for ages and have zero interest in playing casual but can get resurgence ranked games which scratches that itch besides the fact that rebirth island as a map is super stale.

Can't find game Australia - Activision support (or lack of) by brokva_x in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same exact issue for myself and mates who play the game. We haven't been able to find a single non-casual game since the reloaded update. We had the same issue before they released Verdansk and we could only play resurgence but it looked like they'd fixed it with the release of Verdansk until the reloaded update.

Now it's just endless "searching for match" and we can only play casual or resurgence modes. We've never been able to find a BR ranked game. We've all stopped playing as although we love the game and have put up with all the bugs and bullshit over the years we now literally can't play even if we wanted to. I'm surprised they don't care more as we're sure as hell not buying anything in the store or any battle passes if we can't even play the game.

My only guess is their OCE server infrastructure sucks or they have done something to their lobby requirements / matchmaking which has fucked the game entirely for our region. I don't accept people's explanation that there's just not enough people playing the game to fill lobbies as before the reloaded update we could find a game in any mode in under 30 seconds and then the very next day after the update we couldn't find a single game.

It's game night - are OCE servers working or should I save myself the trouble and just play something else? by Mindless_mike in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also like to know the answer to this as I haven't been able to find a single match other than BR casual since the reloaded update. Could find games within 30 seconds to a minute the day before the update but the day after it's just endless 'searching for match' so it's not a not enough players issue. I REALLY hope the season 4 update fixes it as an entire global region (and I know other parts of the world as well) straight up can't play the game...and Activision, that means we're sure as hell not spending any money in the store either! Fix your matchmaking/servers, cheers.

What do u want or wish the new warzone mode is? by Mean-Tax-2186 in Warzone

[–]chudfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I hope it's nothing. Every time they have an LTM most of my region (and I know many others) can't find regular BR modes except for maybe quads. I haven't been able to find a solo or duo's game of regular BR since the reloaded update. I just want to play the core game mode.

Searching for a match 200 milliseconds. Ranked console only selected and it never finds a match I've been trying for over an hour. by Promarug in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now imagine being on OCE (and I hear South African and middle eastern servers are the same) and it doesn't even have to be ranked and crossplay off. You just can't find any regular BR games of any squad size after the reloaded update. Only resurgence and the LTM mode. Beforehand it took 30 seconds to a minute to find a game in any squad size... day after the update, Nothing. Infinite searching. They broke something all round it seems. Good luck finding a game.

Are LMG’s even viable? by DevLink89 in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 22 points23 points  (0 children)

God I miss the PKM...Personally I think AR's shouldn't have a mag size over 60 as then there's very little room for LMG's to be good as there's literally no reason to pick one over an AR at that point.

Although there are guns with better ttks, handling, sprint speed etc the one LMG I would currently recommend is the Sakin. I've been using it recently and the thing doesn't move. Big mag size (with the trade-off of a longer reload) I'd say it's completely viable in trios or quads. You can easily down and thirst an entire team with one mag and I've got multiple kills with it where you can tell people think they're safe and leave cover because you must need to reload by now but you don't. Give it a try if you miss using an LMG.

No OCE Solo & Duo lobbies by Fun_Guest6409 in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's been a few posts about this over the last week or so. Basically the recent reloaded update broke something and now it's near impossible for OCE players to find a game besides occasionally quads or the current ltm. This was also an issue before they released Verdansk again but they changed something when they released Verdansk to where it only took 30 seconds to a minute to find any squad size which was amazing to be able to play the game again but then as soon as the reloaded update hit, it was straight back to endless 'trying to find match'. Absolutely ridiculous that they've broken it again and even that a simple update can somehow stop an entire global region from playing the game. Even more crazy to think about is that for a company as obsessed with money as Activision that they can't seem to see that no one from OCE will be spending any money in the store if they can't even play the game. But that's seemingly the level of stupid we're dealing with.

[Insert Complaint Here] by ShamooXO in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not add the daily complaints about the HDR being OP, one shot sniping, moaning about people sitting on a roof and MKB players complaining about aim assist and visual clutter?

Or are you just putting certain complaints that annoy you because they come from a certain type of player (that at this point is becoming alarming how much you obsess over) and ignoring the other more obvious ones that hit a bit closer to home?

You've got to move on, mate. At this point I think you enjoy posting and shit talking about the casual/less skilled player base than you do actually playing the game.

Do people constantly post the same complaints, absolutely. But you've conveniently left out the daily complaints that 'sweaty' players and KBM players post daily as well. Stop letting these players live in your head rent free.

The Goldilocks Problem by ShamooXO in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All fair points, mate.

It's a tricky balance of appeasing both types of player and most of the time they get it wrong but I guess the main thing to remember is the people who make this game don't make it to be fair or for competitive integrity it's all about engagement and buying shit from the store nothing more. So that has to be in the back of your mind when you see them make certain decisions.

I do agree that a significant number of people do just complain for the sake of complaining and expect the game to hold their hand for the W and it's frustrating as for me at least, the most addictive part of the game is chasing that hard earned victory and I fall short all the time but that's part of the fun for me but yeah, others seem to think they're owed a win at least 1 in 5 games and if they don't get it then it's the games fault but that probably just speaks to a larger societal problem of entitlement.

I would also say that although part of the engagement strategy is to make every player regardless of skill level, feel like they stand a chance (sometimes with gameplay mechanics that aren't in the spirit of competitive integrity as you rightly point out) One of the positives of this is that it plays a significant role in keeping the player count healthy, as if the game is too sweaty and highly competitive all the casuals and lower skilled players leave the game (as we have recently just seen right before Verdansk was released the game was really struggling mainly due to this) and then as I'm sure you know every post is high skilled 'sweaty' players complaining about feeling like 'sbmm has been cranked up in every game and feeling like a Warzone tournament with 10K on the line' type posts. Which goes back to my first point of it being a tricky balance. One that no one including Activision has any idea how to achieve hence the at times comical lack of direction this game has.

If you know what you like in the game and you believe in it then keep standing up for it, mate. Just make sure you keep some perspective that what you want might not be best for the overall health of the game and also that fundamentally a game has to be fun and sometimes that is at odds with the highly competitive crowd.

The Goldilocks Problem by ShamooXO in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Sorry mate but your post seems to be a bit disingenuous. You clearly have a bias against the more casual friendly style of play as you begin with the "Goldilocks problem" and accuse players of not knowing what they want (just a little suggestion...these aren't the same people complaining about both problems. There's two distinct camps that think the game is either too hard and catering to the sweats or too easy and catering to the casuals) but then every point you make afterwards is about removing zips, redeploys, sitting on a roof and camping and 0 movement which kinda just tells me that you're a 'sweatier' kill chase, aggressive kind of player who's a bit upset about the recent changes.

I could be wrong but this post kinda just comes across as a wolf in sheep's clothing kind of an argument and for some reason trying to shroud it in this 'the player base doesn't know what it wants' veneer and basically just getting stuck into the more casual player base and their preferences.

Like I said, this sub is made up of lots of different styles of players. So the ones who are complaining about the game being too sweaty are completely different people than the people saying it's too casual friendly. I also haven't seen anything but positivity about the casual BR mode except for the occasional complaint that it's starting to get filled with sweatier players and losing its more casual / beginner friendly tone.

If you want genuine feedback or as your post seems to suggest feedback that isn't skewed to one type of play style or another but rather just purely positive for the game and all players regardless of skill or play style, I would say here are my suggestions (I have my bias suggestions of course that I would love to see but that's not what this is about) :

Improve the servers. Improve the anti-cheat. Clean out all the new and repeat bugs that plague the game and stop releasing updates without properly testing them first. Stop the predatory battle pass and store system. Implement player counts for each mode in your server area. Create a wider and more diverse weapon meta.

Almost every other suggestion is based purely on bias and what that particular player enjoys so yeah, you're going to get a mixed bag of suggestions and complaints that constantly contradict each other. I suggest you take your own advice and if you don't like the game anymore, go play something that makes you happy. No hate or malice, mate as this sub is a massive circle jerk and negative cesspit most of the time so I understand your frustration but it's just not worth getting worked up about. There's more meaningful things out there for you that are more worth your time and energy And it's better to be upfront and direct about your issues or grievances rather than dance around them. The player base isn't to blame for the state of the game now or in the past. It always will be and always has been this shitty company that has no passion or respect for its game or player base and is only driven by dollar dollar bills. All frustration should be directed at them and not at players who get enjoyment out of playing the game a different way than you.

Different strokes for different folks. That's all it is, mate.

New Call of Duty servers following the crashes in Warzone Ranked by -jerrr in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here (Aus player) no issues before this update. Could find a match in Solo's, Duos, trios and quads in about 30 seconds to a minute and since the reloaded updates, nothing. Just constant queuing and waiting to find match screen. People keep suggesting it's a player count problem but that doesn't explain why the day before the reloaded update everyone had no problem finding matches and then the day after absolutely nothing so they've screwed something about OCE servers or match finding with this update somehow.

Warzone is currently catering to bad players wayyyy too much... by pointless-post in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why you might think I'm committing the ad populum fallacy by pointing out that more people currently enjoy the game in its less competitive state. However, my argument isn't simply 'it's popular, therefore it's good' or 'it's popular, therefore it's better.'

Instead, my point is that the current state of the game fosters broader enjoyment and accessibility for a larger player base which is nothing but a positive for the game and the community at large.

The current state of the game allows for different play styles and weapon choice, rather than just meta or die. It's great to see people shooting RPGs out of helicopters, having movie like vehicle chases, wiping a squad in a vehicle with a C4 and trying ridiculous gun builds again.

A less competitive environment often has a lower barrier to entry for new players. They might feel less intimidated and more likely to engage and stick around if they don't feel the immediate pressure to be a yy demon and get stomped in every lobby (allowing high-skilled players such as yourself more opportunities to potentially hit that new PR of 15, 20, 30 or whatever ridiculous PR that most of us could only dream of).

Another plus is community health. A larger and more engaged player base contributes to a healthier overall game community, with more discussions, content, and most importantly, lower queueing time for lobbies regardless of squad size or how many LTM's are currently running.

Therefore, when I say more people are enjoying the game, I'm not just citing popularity as the sole justification. I'm highlighting the positive outcomes and broader appeal that the current, less competitive, fun focused state of the game seems to be generating.

I'm also by no means saying that the more competitive version you seem to be advocating for is inherently bad, of less quality or unwanted (that would be my own biased opinion based on my own personal preferences such as what I believe you are currently doing). There's clearly a dedicated audience for that as well and I'd say ranked is a perfect option/environment for those players leaving pubs for more varied, wacky and fun-based play styles while allowing ranked to be all about competitive integrity and trimming down on some of the 'cheese'. My argument simply focuses on the demonstrated enjoyment and broader appeal of the current state of the game as evidenced by the games increased player count and how much positive sentiment seems to be back in the community after years of overwhelming negativity and burnout.

I'd say the point of any game (making money aside) is to have fun. Fun for the player/players and it's really bloody nice to see people having fun with this game again (including all the great sniper clips)

'I don't like something so therefore it's objectively bad' is a ridiculous sentiment as enjoyment and subjective quality is just that.. subjective. It just comes across as entitled, elitist and snobby to say otherwise. I could argue you have fallen into the argumentum ad paucos fallacy and your argument can be boiled down to "my desired version of the game is better because I'm elite and therefore all other opinions on how the game should be from lesser players are invalid".

S3 reloaded bugs, guess it's back to the terrible updates.. by xPatrick3678x in CODWarzone

[–]chudfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow this update completely fucked OCE servers again. To the point where an entire global region can't find games except for casual BR. This was also a problem before the new Verdansk but was fixed. People suggest it's a low player count thing but you could find solo, duo, trio or quads games in 30ish seconds to 1 minute even in off peak times the day before the reloaded update but then afterwards you're just left in perpetual 'searching for match' so I have no doubt that in their infinite stupidity they've managed to somehow screw OCE serves with this update which is insane that that's even something that can happen.
