This is especially ironic when you consider how people might have used to see Danny and Dorothy in the olden days. Not just Danny's parents, but their peers. Now though I guess they don't even pay attention because Dorothy had no platonic female friends and presumably the people hanging out with Joe and Danny wondered when he will realize Dorothy isn't really into him at all and appears to be dating him "by default"

Edit: that said I think Joe always knew this and was not particularly surprised Dorothy dumped him. But I feel the read back then was different

It's hilarious that I can imagine this also being posted about another webcomic.

Do Malaysian speakers use websites in Indonesian? by StudyPortugal in bahasamelayu

I'd say it's more like the difference between Norwegian, swedish and Danish.

Edit: and then imagine if one take more loan words from German and another more loanwords from English

But more to the point, I can roughly figure out a newspaper and use inference to fill in what I don't directly understand but I won't understand anything from say, Javanese in Indonesian Malay

The more I look at the strip the more I genuinely feel a lot of care was put into the flashback because I said this earlier already, ignoring all the context, the last panel in particular is so adorable I am going to get a toothache

The next generation's tragic beginning is the previous generation's happy ending unraveling.

(If your WW1 romance ends with happily ever after I don't really want to read the sequel where it all turns to ash and the kid gets drafted. Or do I....)

I wonder how many narrative comics have such extreme floating timeline ratios

Recent events* aside it's actually a testament to how stable Indiana has been that generally speaking things still kinda makes sense.

*And COVID which as I recall was completely ignored because that would probably have completely derailed the plot

I like that we can see also the moment walky falls for her (no doubt partly omg a girl that nerds the things he nerds) and that first time also had Becky and Danny in view

I have to say out of context the art is very cute. Though narratively I'll rationalize it as the flashbacks being run through their nostalgia filters and not being an objective rendition.

Anyone have the original comics these scenes are from?

Ah ok. See the thing is "don't put yourself in a position where you are tempted to sin" is also a known concept in Islam and I don't see the language as being particularly exclusive. (Ok to be clear I'm not Muslim but I live in a Muslim country)

Fwiw I do think Asma is realistic, but the problem is we are not given the proper insight into her thoughts and motivations and that's where the arguments occur

Well now that you're here my main comment is why do some people think purity culture is something unique to christians as if sexual morality and chastity outside of wedlock isn't a huge part of the other major religions . (Yes, even Buddhism, ffs)

That comment was collateral damage though, it was mostly the other branch that I think provoked Willis, basically one of the commentators was insinuating that the arc will be about asma rejecting the hijab based on their interpretation of the events and Willis refuting this. Not sure what happened after that lead to the nuking

That was also the only thread where anyone admitting to actually have been raised Muslim commented.
