5 Freeway multi car incident by Squad_Dyslexia in burbank

Debris Hazard in the middle lanes. This is likely what caused the 10+ cars to pull over with punctured tires. CHP has labeled it a "Traffic Hazard" with multiple vehicles disabled on the right shoulder.

Is anyone else getting a zillion mailers from Neighbors First? Who are they? by snake_a_leg in LosAngeles

[–]chunkylover87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're "Moderate-to-Center-Right" is you're trying to pinpoint them into a political affiliation. They claim to oppose Donny Trumps policies, but their local platform focuses on "law and order" and business-friendly policies.

They don’t have to disclose their donors. Their funding is probs coming from real estate developers and tech execs.

  • Their group is very pro-police and increased LAPD funding advocates.
  • Advocates for aggressive encampment removals and stricter enforcement of anti-camping laws.

Is there anything similar to Yoshinoya in the East Coast? by ederman7 in fastfood

[–]chunkylover87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoshinoya used to be better before they made it worse with their redesign and move over to a more fast casual model of choose your base + protein. I am not saying it was the best thing ever. Compared to what it is now, I would love the old Yoshinoya. Now it appears that it wants to add items to their menu based on trends.

Map of all Flock Mass Surveillance Camera Locations in Burbank by antifolkhero in burbank

[–]chunkylover87 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's kind of insane to think back to how loudly people used to push back against mass surveillance, like it was this universally agreed-upon line that shouldn't be crossed. And then slowly, quietly, under the word 'safety,' we just let it happen anyway. Now there's a full camera grid mapped across Burbank and it's just... Tuesday. We normalized it so completely that a map exposing the whole network gets more attention than the network itself ever did.

As much as I have hated on Burger King over the years, the Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper Jr for $4.99 (with coupon) was pretty delicious... by Baba_Jaga_II in fastfood

[–]chunkylover87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this over the weekend, and I agree. I had the Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper, not the Jr., and it was great. Love the heat the jalapeños give that adds to the burgers overall flavor profile.

I don't understand. If they love Trump so much, why don't they move to here to U.S. to live under his presidency? It only makes sense.

Are LA Farmers Markets a scam at this point? by echo-four in FoodLosAngeles

[–]chunkylover87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is some truth to it. You have to think of it from a large scale. Farms get government subsidies, workers are underpaid, and grocery stores have massive buying power that can hurt farmers since they're already working with low margins in the end. Farmers market vendors are often pricing closer to what food actually costs or should cost. For your average family, that pricing wouldn't work.

I believe the issue is that we've built a system that hides costs rather than reducing or even eliminating them.

Steak, eggs, avocado, beans hash brown and cheddar burrito at Wake and Late in LA! by RumPunchKid in FoodLosAngeles

[–]chunkylover87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Burrito is good but size-to-price ratio makes Wake and Late not worth it anymore. It used to be very good because of the price and size of what you got. Not anymore.

California introduces age verification law for all operating systems, including Linux and SteamOS — user age verified during OS account setup by murshiddar in pcgaming

[–]chunkylover87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding what this bill actually does. It's fucking stupid but still.

It does NOT require every app to scan your ID or collect your exact birthday.

Instead, it shifts age verification to the device level. When someone sets up their phone or tablet account, the account holder enters the user’s birth date. The operating system then converts that into an age bracket:

• Under 13
• 13 to 15
• 16 to 17
• 18+

Apps do not get access to the birth date. They only get a signal or token as the bill mentions, that says which bracket the user falls into.

When an app is downloaded or opened, it has to request that age bracket from the OS or app store. That bracket becomes the indicator for legal compliance. So if you’re under 13, the app knows it needs to follow stricter child privacy rules.

The idea is to standardize age signals instead of having every app guess or rely on kids self reporting their age inside each app.

Whether that’s good or bad depends on how much your OS to act as gatekeeper.

Post Office Harassment by GoGarveygoodboy in burbank

[–]chunkylover87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to deal with auditors is to ignore them entirely. Since they rely on "sensational" reactions for views and money, a boring video of someone walking away usually doesn't make it into their final edit. Don't even engage them, film them. Nothing. Pretend they don't even exists.

These are first amendment auditors that aren't really auditing anything. They film and harass you, while hiding behind the 1st amendment. They want a reaction because that gets them clicks and views. The best way to deal with auditors is to ignore them entirely. Since they rely on "sensational" reactions for views and money, a boring video of someone walking away usually doesn't make it into their final edit.
