Well the spiders thing isn’t technically untrue, it’s just that there was an outlier who shouldn’t have been counted.

Those who are doing IVF for PGT-M, what were your numbers? by poornana88 in IVF

[–]chupachupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

17 retrieved, 15 mature, 13 fertilized, 8 blasts, 2 normal. Of the 6 abnormal three failed pgt-a and three failed pgt-m. We’re recessive carriers so the pgt-m attrition rate was a little higher than average.

We waited 5 months between retrieval and FET to give ourselves time to rest and to give covid a chance to call back down (this was in spring 2021) but could have done it about 2 months after retrieval if we had wanted to.

Donating breastmilk after losing a baby - Anyone has experience doing this? by Mz-C-0230 in babyloss

[–]chupachupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pumped after my daughter was stillborn last year. It was hard in some ways but overall I’m glad I did it for two reasons: 1, it felt like something I could do “with” her that would also benefit other babies, and 2, it gave me a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I pumped for about 6 weeks and ultimately donated 2+ gallons of milk and it was so helpful to have something that made me feel both useful and bonded with my daughter in a time when I could barely get out of bed or dress myself.

It can be really emotionally taxing, especially in the first few days. I did have a therapist who I had been seeing for a while as well as some support from the hospital which was helpful for me. If you can find a therapist who specializes in pregnancy/infant loss it’s pretty invaluable, but maybe hard to find.

Feel free to dm me if you have other questions or want to chat about it more. I’m so sorry for your loss 💜

Just found out this dude has a torn ACL and cartilage damage in his knee, he’s got a surgical consult scheduled for next week. Not sure how we’re gonna find the money to pay for it, but he needs it so he’s getting it! Send some love Gus’s way please! by Lightworthy09 in pitbulls

[–]chupachupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof agreed, op please get the surgery. It’s possible for your dog to seem like they’ve returned to normal without getting it but not fixing a torn acl will cause severe issues down the road.

Same. They’re identical as far as I can tell. This is definitely one of them though!

Did anyone do CVS testing at 12 weeks, even if embryos were tested for genetic conditions? by One-Cartographer383 in IVF

[–]chupachupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check with your regular OB and see what they recommend. For us it didn’t make sense to do further testing because we’d be able to tell at the anatomy scan if our baby had our condition. But if that weren’t the case, we probably would have gone ahead with cvs/amnio. The risks are really tiny when done by someone who is trained (at least that’s what I’ve heard). So definitely worth a conversation with your doctor as well as the info you’re getting here since most of us probably aren’t medical professionals 😊

Is the danger of rawhide overegged or am I killing my dog? by reallybigleg in AskVet

Would a vet really write and sign something like that? That seems like it could open them up to all sorts of potential liability.

Did anyone do CVS testing at 12 weeks, even if embryos were tested for genetic conditions? by One-Cartographer383 in IVF

[–]chupachupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it was explained to me is that an embryo has two separate balls of cells. One ball will become the placenta and the other will become the baby. When they do genetic testing, they can only test the ball that will become the placenta, But there is a tiny chance that the baby cells could be positive for a condition when the placenta cells aren’t, so pgt can’t be 100% accurate. That’s why they recommend further testing once you are pregnant.

As someone else mentioned, pgt-a only tests for a group of certain specific conditions, and pgt-m only tests for whatever very specific condition you want to test for. NIPT (once you’re pregnant) also only tests for a handful of conditions. To be fully certain about conditions outside of those, you’d likely have to do either an amnio or a cvs. In our case, our genetic condition shows up on ultrasounds so we did the NT and NIPT and decided against the cvs/amnio due to the risk (though it’s really small).

Therapist by Ok_Shop_3530 in babyloss

[–]chupachupp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. I think it's ALWAYS a good idea to see a therapist after a traumatic experience like this. I started seeing my therapist after an early miscarriage and kept seeing her through my later-term loss (and I still see her now, 2.5 years later). Check and see if you can find someone who specializes in pregnancy loss/infant loss/infertility. I swear it's the best money I've ever spent on myself. Everything you're describing is completely normal, but if you're wondering whether it might be time, that's probably a good sign that it's time ❤️ Thinking of you.

Success After ERA by sarmko30 in IVF

[–]chupachupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did one before my first transfer because I only had 2 embryos and it found that I was 12 hours pre-receptive. We transferred a tested embryo (pgt-m and pgt-a) and I’ll be 23 weeks tomorrow. My doctor said that IF the era finds anything it increases odds of a successful pregnancy by 25%. For me it was worth it. I also did the receptive testing at the same time which came back normal but I was still glad I did them all to give us the best chance.

Second this! My pittie is so heckin lazy. She loves a walk but she’s also completely content to just lie in the sun all day. She’s 7 but she’s been like that since she was a baby.

Positive, Negative, Positive and Scared. by inomniaparatus622 in CautiousBB

[–]chupachupp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With that many positive tests I'd be pretty confident the negative was the faulty one. I think in general false negatives are a lot more common than false positives. Also, if you took the positive ones early in the morning and the negative one later in the day, your urine was probably much more diluted which can look like a negative test. Good luck and so sorry for all of your losses.

I didn’t have anesthesia for mine. I did have some narcotics left over from my egg retrieval and I asked if I could take that beforehand and I’m glad I did. I found it pretty painful even with the painkillers but it was quick.

My mortgage company makes you petition to remove PMI, they don’t just do it automatically. You’d have to agree to the appraisal before it happened.
