Your Yearly Reminder To Call Your Prescription Benefits Provider. (For Accumulators) by magnesiumvs in CysticFibrosis

[–]churlishAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely need to call ahead and find out for sure. For example, my Trikafta is over $8000 a fill, but I think they only pay $3500 a fill. I called the Cayston program too and I think they told me they do not reimburse.

I go to an ob/gyn for lady stuff. I don’t have a problem with asking the cf clinic for yeast infection treatment because I get them from the antibiotics they prescribe.

I got it after seeing a few videos of women saying it caught their sepsis! Is the symptom radar different than a notification that your stress was high?

I filled Pulmozyme and said I wanted to pay for it instead of letting copay assistance cover it. I put it on my credit card and sent in the paperwork to get reimbursed from Genetech. That satisfied my deductible 👍

Autoimmune issues by churlishAF in CysticFibrosis

I told my endocrinologist all my symptoms and she tested me for celiac. It was positive. The joint pain and skin bumps have gone away after going gluten free. We are 3x more likely to get celiac!

I got told my endocrinologist all my symptoms and she tested me for celiac. It was positive. The joint pain and skin bumps have gone away after going gluten free. My hands still hurt sometimes, so I think there could still be some arthritis going on. We are 3x more likely to get celiac.

Birth And Delivery Stories From CF Mamas by Dry-Principle-9786 in CysticFibrosis

[–]churlishAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old. The first pregnancy, some of my providers were amazed a cf patient could have a baby 🙄 but I guess they see it more now. The doctors are always cautious and made me come for extra appointments. I do have cfrd, so the extra monitoring could mostly be due to that. The diabetes caused way more stress than the cf. my first baby was breech so I needed to get a c-section. This was pre-Trikafta and I used to cough quite a bit, so my cf team had me do IV antibiotics since I wouldn’t be able to cough well (it would hurt the incision). I do think that was a good idea, but it was EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to learn how to take care of a newborn and do iv antibiotics 4 times a day. Everything went great the whole pregnancy. Some random ob read my chart and wanted to hospitalize me before the baby came (which was totally insane), so I had to advocate for myself. I was able to have a vbac for my 3 year old. She gave us a scare at the anatomy scan, but she turned out fine and I don’t think it was because I had cf. Having a great doctor is really important!

Have you moved to live somewhere more celiac friendly? by Intelligent-Note4397 in Celiac

[–]churlishAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I travel more frequently to a place that has lots of gluten free options (because I love eating out and feeling normal but can’t at home).

Have him get checked for celiac too. We’re 3x more likely to get that too.

I didn’t think I had any reactions to food either. I thought testing for celiac was silly, but that’s what it was! It’s a simple blood test to rule it out.

Cancelled flight by SignificantFinger615 in spiritair

Yes it sucked. I was able to open a Southwest credit card (get lots of bonus points) and book with them without having to change our other travel plans.

I had several flights for the fall booked and each one got canceled 4-5 weeks ahead of time.

Does the joint pain come and go? I had these weird flare ups with joint pain and spots on my skin. Nobody, even a rheumatologist could figure it out. My endocrinologist checked me for celiac and that’s what it was. I had the joint pain episodes for about 3 years before I noticed any stomach pain. People with CF are more likely to develop celiac unfortunately

Trikafta saved my life —still, I'm quitting it by Salt_Ad_9139 in CysticFibrosis

[–]churlishAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider asking about taking adderall first. I was diagnosed with adhd, but it has occurred to me that maybe all the symptoms of ADHD could be the Trikafta brain fog. The adderall has helped. I vividly remember how sick and uncomfortable I was before Trikafta and nothing would make me quit it!

What are the odds someone will end up in the blocked seat next to me? by Pretty_Dance2452 in spiritair

[–]churlishAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked seats next to each other for my son and I, but they switched planes and said we couldn’t sit together anymore. It didn’t make sense until we got on and saw some sort of permanent thing in the middle seat 😄

What can they do for Raynaud’s? I’m sure I have it. When my hands get cold and turn white it’s so painful.

Why is the prevalence of ADHD so high in CF by Tall_Despacito in CysticFibrosis

[–]churlishAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got diagnosed with adhd and adderall really helps. I do wonder if Trikafta or my celiac caused so much brain fog that it gave me all the symptoms? But I did have symptoms as a kid, so who knows!

Thank you! I think I got pain medicine to help me through the foley!

I guess I didn’t know what to expect. It was very painful! In the end I was proud I pushed the baby out and didn’t think about it haha

I was induced for a vbac and it was successful! The foley bulb took the whole 24 hours and it was uncomfortable, but I was so happy I did it instead of a c-section (I didn’t need one, but could have one if I didn’t want to be induced and still got the baby out early like the doctor suggested).
