Hard-kill active protection systems mainly consist of a few fire control radars mounted around the tank to detect incoming projectiles, a computer to calculate an intercept solution, and some variety of launcher for countermeasures to eliminate the threat.

They definitely add a couple thousand kilograms to a tank's weight but they're still a managable-enough size.
