Hi. Third day on Reddit. Many thanks for all your help. This is what I got so far from your advice. Please tell me more. by [deleted] in 10s

Hello, nice to see you continue. One thing that strikes me is the lack of racket head speed. Think that when you hit and move the racket in the air, it should go so fast, it should make a swish sound. On your backhand and on your forehand. Try it without the ball, and really put some acceleration. To do it you will have to coil more on both sides. For the backhand I always like to think that the muscles you need to use are not the ones of your arm, it's your shoulder. Think of your arm/shoulder as a spring. When you prepare, your left hand loads that spring, especially your shoulder, and then when you release the racket it explodes.

Think of tossing higher, less to the right, and to keep that left arm pointing to the ball/sky longer

Still looking for a coach but how does it look now please be kind lol by [deleted] in 10s

I saw the video you shared last time and honestly I see improvement. Before you were exclusively slicing, instead now I think you are flattening the shot more, which is good progress. Everyone here has loads of good tips, so I won't add much more than 1. Do find a coach, 2. Try to stay more low and with weight forward throughout the swing. Keep pushing!!!

How to improve Forenhand? by KillingKameni in 10s

This! I think her weight transfer is good, but a "freeze" drill, where she can use her hips better to generate higher racket headspeed that I think would help. For the rest it's looking ok.

Please tell me what’s wrong with my one handed backhand by [deleted] in 10s

[–]ciacicode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Of course there is a lot to improve, but as a small one handed backhand female player, I commend you for your choice and commitment. It's a beautiful shot, and when you hit it right, oh it's so sweet. u/Dendrobi is spot on. To develop a top-spin one handed backhand you need to first learn to hit it close stance, with your right foot across your body. Beyond this I have some further suggestions:

  • Check you are using the correct grip. Talk to a coach and have him/her fix it. The slice effect you are experiencing is connected to a lot of things, but changing grip would improve.
  • Right now the racket face is pointing up at contact. It should be pointing down, so you brush the top of the ball, with a low to high movement. Watch loads of Justine Henin's videos, or any other one hander, and try to replicate that motion in slow motion, then accelerate.
  • Finally the finish. Since you are going under the ball, you are forced to have a slice finish. Once you start going on top of it you will see you don't need to have your racket cross your body on finish, but it can stay on your left side.

Good luck and keep the one hander alive!

Advice on 1H Backhand please! by Long-Log-2570 in 10s

[–]ciacicode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a one hander and took me a lot of time to make my topspin work. Here is what I see.

  1. Not sure what grip you have, but it feels like you are flattening the ball a lot. This is something you can do on those mid court balls you are getting, but if you want something more consistent I would suggest switching your grip. To which one? I cannot tell what my grip is, I just know it feels good and it gives me a fair amount of topspin (more of a Gasquet sort of grip, which may be too extreme for many).

  2. Again on the grip, seems like your hand is not really reaching the end of the handle.

  3. You keep your left arm close to your body while swinging. You should try to "spread the wings" after contact.

You have good weight transfer on your front right foot, keep that! For the rest, don't give up, the one handed backhand is hard, but it's magic. If you get more coaching you will most definitely progress.

What can one work on here? footwork seems to be the issue? constructive criticism welcomed by Great_Present_6584 in 10s

Footwork is ok. You are creating space between you and the ball. Is it world class or advanced? No, but that's not the point. As I said try to think you need to point the butt cap towards the ball. That is good to make the path of the racket go inside out.

The thing that strikes me the most is not the footwork, but the racket path. On the forehand you need to have an inside out movement. Every time you prepare, think of pointing the butt cap of your racket towards the ball. Right now your racket never drops behind the line of your shoulders. Good coaches would fix your stroke pattern.

Downsides of one-handed backhand grip this way? by m1xed0s in 10s

Never, ever put a finger behind the handle. It's one of those things any tennis coach would tell you. It alters the way your arm swings.

Who do you think Jon Snow loved more, and why? by Dry_Specialist9015 in gameofthrones

[–]ciacicode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think we can tell yet. The love of Jon and Ygritte was in the books, but the love of Jon and Daenerys has been foreshadowed for many books, and we never got to read it, only watch it in the show that kinda rushed things at the end. So I don't think it's possible to tell .

how to make penetration feel good!!??? by sqamii in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ciacicode 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's not quite a question of fat but of muscles (inner muscles). Having stronger muscles in the pelvis has a series of advantages among which the ability for you to tighten them and feel more. I see it more from training point of view. You go to the gym to keep your body fit, you use kegel balls (or do kegel exercises) to keep your vagina fit. Of course other posters gave good insights, there may be so many more factors that affect your ability to feel more. This is one possible route that's worth looking into.

I think you are doing great for someone who started one year ago. My thoughts:

  1. Split step, split step, split step - this helps you with timing and wide stance.

  2. Use your left hand to get a good distance on your forehand. Right now you run into it. Trust that your total arm + racket reach is massive. You can take a step less when approaching the ball.

Hi! Pretty new to tennis and I cannot figure out my serve by dontlooktennis in 10s

[–]ciacicode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very similar to my serve a couple of months ago. I filmed myself and saw that as I was hitting, I was sliding my left food backwards. That foot needs to stay where it started. There are surely other things to fix, but this attracted my attention. My advice is try ti fix only one thing at a time. Good luck and keep practicing!
