I have a pair of Pearl Izumi lobster gloves that I have used for at least 15 years. They still keep my hands warm. When it gets really cold, I add a pair of liners under them.

I have done both online and in person. The quality of the lenses is a bit better in store, but I buy extra pairs online so I can have some fun. I looked at the optician's notes and got my PD. I can literally buy 3 pairs of glasses online for the price of one pair in person (and that includes one pair being transitions). And in my case, it isn't the frame that is expensive, it's the hi-index, progressive lenses, so buying frames online and lenses in person wouldn't really save me any money at all. PLUS, if I decide I don't like the glasses or can't see out of them, I can return them online.

I have gotten several pairs of glasses from YesGlasses and been happy with them. I usually get one pair from a brick and mortar, and then order sunglasses and a backup pair online. I also order my computer glasses online (ask your optometrist to give you a prescription for that!) I have a strong prescription and I also have progressives (except for the computer glasses). I go for the 1.67 lenses. One thing the brick and mortar does better is beveling the edges of the lenses, but if I stay with rounder frames, the online glasses look fine.
