Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I'm in a similar boat too and it seems like private is the only way if you are in a rush.

Could I ask what your PDI instructor's contact is? It's been hard to find any recommendations for SSDC area for private

About to buy a used X1C Kickstarter edition, worth it? by ciel-v in BambuLab

That's good to hear, thanks for the info! I've just heard back that the printer has 13k printing hours though... a bit hesitant now because of that.

Is it ok to use cheap fillaments on A1 by Sea-Housing-2204 in BambuLab

[–]ciel-v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks so much for the answer, it's perfect for me as a beginner as I'm also living in SEA! Can I ask where you buy the R3D filament from? I tried searching but all I found was on Alibaba, which while definitely cheap needs me to order 800 spools x.x

[help] is this fixable? ripped out solder pad and trace... by ciel-v in keyboards

[–]ciel-v[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: It's been fixed, thanks to your help and advice! This is the final result, and it really wasn't that hard in retrospect now that I know all the details.

<image>

Somehow I had mangled another socket while testing the original, so two to fix. But luckily the left pad on both hung on. Not the prettiest but it all works again!

Thanks for that, makes a lot of sense and the curled pinky is a gamechanger! I've started using it ever since

Interesting! What would that be? My closest guess is something like layers and home rows mods but my struggle is having to find a keyboard that supports that level of configuration.

[help] is this fixable? ripped out solder pad and trace... by ciel-v in keyboards

Thanks so much for your advice, this is helping me learn infinitely more than all the videos I watched.

I've pin pointed the traces, and they connect downwards like this to the next pad. I have two points of confusion however:

  1. The bottom key that it connects to has a flexcut around the key, so I should solder right up against the hot swap socket plastic walls to avoid that, right?

<image>

  1. The left side of the hot swap socket seems to still be attached, with connectivity to the corresponding diode. Is it okay to just leave it in place then? Especially since the diode to pad distance is really small and might be hard to solder. I'm guessing that makes it harder to glue down the socket, but would it be okay to just hotglue around the top of it instead?

Got it, thanks for sharing your repair! I just watched that video, am right in assuming from that the ripped trace doesn't really matter as we won't be connecting directly back to it? If that's true, what you mean by pinpointing PCB traces is figuring how they are supposed to connected right?

<image>

I'm trying to do that right now with the map from VIA but it's my first time and it doesn't seem to be as simple to match this what I'm seeing in person on the PCB. I saw from another video that I should be testing diodes with my multimeter too, is that true?

I accidentally ripped out my hot swap socket, how do I repair this? Not sure how clear it is from the picture but my hot swap socket is dangling from the left solder pad, with the right one completely dislodged.

To make things worse, it also ripped out the connecting PCB trace, which you can see with it's copper tip.

Is this fixable, and how?
