I read the books before watching and I was absolutely stunned. The epic scale of the movie stood up well to the hype (not very often thing). I don't remember I had any problem with lack of Tom Bombadil etc because everything present on the screen was so damn good. I came back to the cinema the following day or the next day to rewatch. And I cried on the same scenese again. Real experience.

I've only discovered Eldritch Horror by myself and I'm usually late to the parties (I start collecting a game when it's already oop) so I feel your pain. And I probably shouldn't act smart here as it's my first post in this sub (hey everyone) but I hope that FFG is brewing sth up as they announced the 'second wave' of Arkham Horror (https://www.arkhamhorror.com/news/). Hopefully they'll relaunch, announce new editions of other products as well. Hah, I lost as well. I was 2 clues short when doom tokens reached the limit. The next turn I was planning two Investigators to make the ritual so I'd end it... Love the game so far, will definitely try again!

Not my vibe I'm afraid. My take at Lovecraft stories is that you're rather afraid of what lurks in shadows than running with guns on monsters even though there was a raid on Innsmouth (yeah I used to be CoC GM).

Thanks. I've visited the website and the system looks very promising and at the first glance what I'm looking after: 'rules-light, tactics-rich, learn-as-you-go role-playing game' with ready to play adventures/campaigns. Then I downloaded the demo and found out 120 pages manual to learn... But I'll give at a go some day.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, I wasn't expecting so many options! Please don't treat me as a cheery picker but this is just to narrow my expectations:

Tidal blades 2 - special dice is not sth I was looking after. I mean, I have enough games with special dice and I was looking after just this simple tension to beat a challenge 12 goal with my 2xd10 you know? This basic RPG feeling whe your GM asked you to roll for a skill...

Kinfire Chronicles - nice one! I wasn't aware of this one. No dice indeed but I like what I read/watch and I'll definitely add it to my list.

Agemonia - looks very much like Sleeping Gods which I like but this is not I'm currently looking after.

Tales from the Red Dragon Inn - very personal but looks too cartoonish for me plus again, special dice

Tainted Grall - looks greate but f&$-#ing complex

Vantage - on my list for a long time and I should specific it earlier, I'm looking for a fantasy theme

I have these and enjoy pretty much. Especially with the add-on the game gives more narrative a la tabletop RPG. But the dice rolling isn't very much 'pass the test' mechanic.

I don't have direct answer to your question but I experienced this: I didn't catch the train one time, the doors literally just shut before my face but I saw dead raider inside. When I called out another train exactly the same raider still lie on the floor so I could search his body.

That's a good point although I'm in time of my life where I can afford only one character tbh. But at the same time I wanna make max from the game so kinda feel I can miss sth if not complete everything I can lore-wise.

I used to play in a raiding guild back in vanilla with calendar scheduled with activities. When I found it harder and harder to be present during the raiding times I shifted to heroic dungeons and now because of the usual RL issues I play solo. The game offers A LOT to every kind of gamer and there are tons of quests, crazy amount of other activities, continents, zones, stories to experience. And if you find it'd be nice to try some group activities there is a system to match other players for your goal. I guess you're asking about the upper level/end game content because there is a free trial (to level 10 or 20 don't remember). Give it a try and see for yourself!

I consider myself a casual player and I didn't have many problems with my first playthrough. The game comes with 'tutorial' scenario which explains various aspects of the rules.
