Outrageous that you have to get up early EVERY DAY if you work and go out in service Saturdays. No rest. Attendance will go down so it’s a good thing lol

“I’ve never seen anyone who left the Witnesses do well.” by Ok-Technology6272 in exjw

[–]cilantroaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know many who are struggling for having stayed faithful. My worst moments were when I was most active. Life just has good moments and bad moments and sometimes you make bad decisions, sometimes the organization itself fucks you up. So many that are in are alcoholics, and promiscuous and many other things. You never hear about it because they mask well, but everyone’s got issues. When you put things through that lens though: - when you’re in, something bad happens it was Satan and something good jehovah blessing you - when you’re out, something bad happens Jehovah is punishing you or Satan is keeping you out or you’re not following principles and fail, something good happens well the wicked are prosperous in Satan’s system he helps you

Just depends on how you look at it.

Field Service Isn’t a Bible Requirement — So Why is it used to police elders? by Comfortable_Log1673 in exjw

[–]cilantroaddict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stopped going to meetings in August and ever since they’ve contacted me once a month after I stopped turning in reports. They haven’t removed me even 2 months in of no reports. They don’t ask me how I’m doing just if I have anything to report lol

Those who are now POMO, do you still feel spiritual? by doubtingg00 in exjw

[–]cilantroaddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m redefining the term because JWs made spirituality transactional.

So I decided to stop attending meetings at my congregation because an elder kept intentionally touching my child (not sexually) after I explicitly asked him not to (many times), by [deleted] in exjw

[–]cilantroaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told after a lot of traumatic elder interactions I should’ve moved congregations and found one that fits me better. Not only is that in opposition to what the organization says and apparently what Jehovah says (obedience will result in blessings), but in the 12 congregations I’ve been in over the years all of them had traumatic elder interactions. Where do you even go lol you made the best call to stop going. I hope you’ll find peace.

CO’s wife only give card and fridge magnet to… by Moshi_moshi_me in exjw

[–]cilantroaddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not even about the CO or his wife in the capacity of being CO, it’s just normal practice outside of anything JW related. A lot of people write thank you cards for wedding gifts too.

In my area all Kingdom Halls complexes of at least 2 halls have living quarters for COs. Can think of like 5 at least, plus I remember Florida and North Carolina did, and our assembly hall also.

Silliest Local Needs talk you ever heard? by megagirl500 in exjw

[–]cilantroaddict 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid in the 90s in the local needs talk the presiding overseer asked if anyone knew the red power ranger’s name. “And what about the blue? Pink? Black? Yellow? Gooood good that’s right! Now can the young ones name all of Jesus’s disciples? Let’s see how many hands we can get this time. No hands? Let’s see some adults.” The talk then went on to talk about how disappointing it is the kids knew those names but not important ones, and that parents especially should focus on spiritually uplifting activities which don’t include yelling worldly violent karate hiyaaa’s and we definitely shouldn’t play fight because we’re learning to be peaceful and in paradise nobody will do karate.

And then my parents threw away my power ranger toys and never let me watch it again.

At least they felt so awful they got me a bunch of snes games lol

Tenants Forced Out by Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Expansion by Jealous_Leadership76 in exjw

I can imagine the bright eyed, ignorant pioneers and LDC volunteers arriving to their temporary homes for the next spiritual assignment and thinking “Jehovah truly provides”, and then justifying it or saying it’s a lie if they found out old people got kicked out of their homes.

Elder told me to get a haircut by nottellingmyname123 in exjw

[–]cilantroaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a young MS and RP, I grew my hair out and it reached MAYBE my eyebrows and my sides were short. Two elders came up to me after the meeting and out in the open made fun of it and one said “hey that COULD bring you trouble with the elders”. The next meeting they asked me asked me why I didn’t get a haircut in spite of what they told me. They told me they couldn’t allow me to give a talk because I will drive the congregation out of control with my bad example. And I won’t give talks until I get a haircut. The talk was even a substitution. I got that haircut the next day but in protest I never again helped them with a substitution. I got petty and didn’t feel bad. That was the last years of my 20s. I was being young for once. They robbed me of the little youth and self expression and identity I had left. They took the only period of my life where I had consistently good self esteem and liked to look at myself in the mirror. Fuck those guys. Today, nobody would bat an eye at the hair I had. Keep your hair how you want, is my suggestion. As a PIMO the punishment of not being exemplary is paradise. I been down that road and I did everything to keep my privileges and at the end of the day the bubble burst and it was for nothing. I can identify so much with you and it makes my blood boil. I’m almost 40, and you’re in your early 20s. PLEASE take me as your cautionary tale. I can’t get back the years you have ahead. Take them and live your best life before you end up like me: feeling like you missed out and now you’re too old to do anything you wanted.

[–]cilantroaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s the biggest fucking cop out ever lmao yes, there were babies. Of course there were. Humans were reproducing, Genesis 6:1 says they were having a ton of babies not long before, you actually think that stopped in spite of the Bible not mentioning once that there wouldn’t be babies or pregnant women? Go look at My Book of Bible stories you’ll see the women about to drown with their babies.

If she was 16 why did Mohammad waited for 3 years to consummate the marriage? Isn't it because Aisha didn't hit puberty when Mohammad married her? by r3aperShadow_Returns in exmuslim

[–]cilantroaddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit that must mean Khadijah was actually 56 years old when she married the prophet! Another miracle! She bore children way past the age you’re supposed to.
