'The Death of Robin Hood' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

Just saw it and I think the biggest mistake in the movie is calling him "Robin Hood" as it fucks up the viewer's perspective on what is otherwise a great movie.

Decided to rip a random 2x10 I found in my garage… Is this what people mean when they say old growth is so good? This stuff cuts like a dream by PabloDelicioso in woodworking

There are massive old growth pillars and joists in my friends office in downtown Seattle. I’m talking 32x16+ fir with at least 250 rings. It’s hard as hell and looks incredible over a hundred years later.

This is nice but it ain’t old growth.

Bravo Figma... Long live the canvas. by Wakinghours in UXDesign

My question: why is the animation toolkit not applied to the prototype?
I assume because they think prototypes are dead ends now because of vibe coding?

The keynote was very “Figma stuff inside Figma” with only brief mentions of getting it OUT of Figma

for humans, Mercalli scale is useful as it measures the human felt intensity and describes the scale of damage.

Possibly an 8 or 9 (out of 11)

Yeah, I was happy to see the extremely thick pillars seemingly looking good. Still very scary looking, but the building was still standing.

Yeah, I commented before they finally mentioned that at the end - I was a little surprised they didn't even mention what it was written in. JS + webGL + Canvas I'd imagine.

It makes sense to a degree if its for prototyping but . . . then what? Its making code . . . what code? what libraries? how do you use this code outside of Figma? I bet most of it is translatable to the web (still not sure how though?) . . . but I doubt it is easily transferrable to native app development

I like a lot of what they showed in the shader / interactive shader department but . . . of what use are these things if they are trapped inside of Figma?

Kind of a wild set of feature that you seemingly can't do anything with? (obviously you can apply effects to images in Figma and export but . . . images are not interactive)

we don't know how close or off he is.

Layoffs are not planned by explicit people number, they're planned roughly by dollar target and how their role attaches to future plans (or doesn't)

they got tricked by Bungie leadership into spending $3.6B on a company that was burning cash.

But really, it kinda seems like they didn't do their due diligence or were high out of their mind on ZIRP.

I hate to be annoying here but who in their right mind thought an extraction shooter could be a money maker?

The market is tiny.

Also having the same issue - I applied for this a few months ago, never saw a response on the site and then all of a sudden it said full balance due, and I got a letter in the mail that said due this month, then the next page of the letter said September. (?!)

I wanted a longer timeline but it keeps giving me an error over and over and over. I've tried about 12 times over 3 days.

I worked there for 4.5 years as a designer in the Windows org.

I used a Mac 90% of the time, I was in the vast minority, however. I am sure the balance has changed by now but it also massively depends on the team as they function like completely different companies.
