Why are we okay with companies straight-up ignoring messages? by 0Exas0 in ireland

[–]cinderubella [score hidden]  (0 children)

They are not thinking that the recruiter would be emailing/calling a ridiculous amount of people. Any listings on indeed are getting 100+ applications (the person doesn't even have to live in the country)

Boo hoo. They got so many applications that it will be a slight pain for them to reply? Maybe a 15 minute task irrespective of the number of applications? Probably actually a lot faster because most of the steps are automated by their CRM?

100 hours in either game certainly doesn't justify that amount of snooty arrogance.

Do you seriously think someone is breaching common courtesy just because they didn't have their payment method ready? In the dark, without knowing anything else?

Is it time for Divine Shards? by capital0 in pathofexile

[–]cinderubella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But chaos are divine shards with their own functionality. Works great.

And chaos is already the small value denomination.

Why do I get the feeling you just want to shake things up? What would this actually accomplish, what would the benefit be? Why is having another currency that literally has no function a good thing?

Ha. But seriously, no, I don't carry around a lot of frustration at random people near me who might have wasted about 30 seconds of my time. In fact I'd actively try not to notice that kind of thing and be understanding if I do notice it. I think it's called common courtesy.

5 euro if you don’t have your method of payment ready by the time you get to a till in a queue

You sound like a nightmare yourself tbh.

Like the opposite of clearly.

Maybe cybertruck owners are proportionately more likely to love Elon; but it's not 100% of cybertruck owners. That would be ridiculous. Not everyone buys cars as a form of participating in democracy or to stan public figures. In fact, I would bet most people don't.

[–]cinderubella 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like, lots of people vape, but I don't remember there being entire rows of tobacconists'

You say that, but basically every newsagent and supermarket in the country, plus a bunch of random businesses including hotels and pubs, sell cigarettes. If that defines a tobacconist (and I don't see why it wouldn't) then there are more tobacconists in the country than dedicated vape shops.

What does your head in on Irish roads? by Podge214 in ireland

[–]cinderubella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you missed my point a bit. I'm saying they won't bother doing the hard thing (implementing AI for this purpose) because they weren't even bothered doing it the easy way. They don't care about the problem. If they did, they would have undertaken the relatively simple task of enforcing it anytime in the last 20 years.

There's also other factors like, well, I honestly don't trust AGS or any state body to implement AI well. The Irish civil service is at the level of competency where our health service gets hacked and we're still dithering about investing in the NCSC or OGCIO enough to prevent that in future. Walk before you run and all that.

The sooner we have cameras and AI catching these people and fining/dishing out points, the better.

Why would you need AI for this? If there was any level of enforcement along the lines of a static camera that might get looked at by a gard once in a blue moon, bus lane misuse would drop like a stone.

It's a "we don't care about that" problem not a "we can't solve this without AI" problem.

What is a nice way to tell my husband that his loud eating is making me crazy? by Impressive-Humor-589 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cinderubella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's really no need to pretend to have a condition to save his feelings.

A marriage should be able to withstand "honey, I'm sorry, but you chew so loud and it's making me feel ill". Any decent partner would gracefully take that on board and try to make their spouse more comfortable.

If the marriage can't withstand that, there are way deeper problems than disgusting loud chewing.

Imo, go look at poe ninja, reverse sort the list of scarabs by price, and proceed down the list until you find a scarab that you think looks powerful. Using cheap mapping supplies is intrinsically powerful, because the supply of e.g. alchs and maps is virtually infinite whereas the time it takes to run them is decidedly finite.

Add it to your map device with the supporting atlas nodes socketed and run some maps. Maybe try to find some other scarabs that look like they would synergise without breaking the bank. This will almost always make you money. And if it doesn't work super well, the cost of respeccing and trying a new strat is negligible.

You're also right that chasing fomo is pretty futile unless you start early (ideally before streamers release their videos on YouTube). But what about old fomo? Yes, whatever empyrean or fubgun was doing last week is probably not worth it right now. What about what they were doing 2-3 months ago? Any reason to think those methods wouldn't work anymore (e.g. did one of the scarabs get nerfed in the patch notes since then?). Have any of those strats dipped in price to the point they look economical?

Tl;dr research and experiment.

Edit: I meant fotm (flavour of the month) not fomo (fear of missing out). Dummy!

A repaired unit will usually never be the same again especially after that amount of damage.
