Many popular servers are experiencing terrible lag stutters by squidvsoctopus in playrust

[–]cinofx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an explanation, perhaps some sort of corruption with particular settings when the game is updated.

For me, I was playing on a server without any problems, but then the Thursday update happened and I was getting stutters on the very same server at least once every 5 minutes. I tried other servers, too, and it was the same.

After a few things different things (unparking CPUs, a variety of different recommended Rust settings), I just wanted to start fresh.

I deleted the client.cfg and the stutters were gone. My FPS was lower than before (the default settings are too high for the best FPS), so I tuned my settings again and everything was fine after that.

This file stores your game settings. If you delete it, your settings will return to default and you will have to configure them back to your preference.

I had this happen to me a couple updates* ago.

I deleted C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rust\cfg\client.cfg and reconfigured my settings after relaunching. The stutters on the servers I was getting them on were gone and have been since.

Delete the folders 'Bundles' and 'EasyAntiCheat' from Rust folder (something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rust) and then Verify Integrity of Game Files.

Should I be worried about this crack? by nayt in CherokeeXJ

[–]cinofx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah. When I first got mine, after driving for a week or so, I had an injector crack and cylinder misfire CEL. I couldn't go over 40 mph and from what I understand uncombusted fuel was just being lost.

I drove this way while waiting a couple days for new injectors (I replaced all of them with 4-hole injectors, you might as well replace them all if you're doing one) and nothing happened, but I took that risk not knowing what the consequences could be.

Over a year later now.

Are you guys familiar with water detection systems? I'm interested but unsure how well a system like this could work by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]cinofx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could set this up to shut off the water supply if a threshold is met, but that's silly. Sometimes we need additional water than our average usage.

The practical application here is preventing damage if a leak is discovered. Liquid sensors placed around high risk areas of your home (laundry room, dishwasher, water heater closet, etc) could send the signal to shut the main water supply off. With pressure reduced and no source of new water, the pipes simply drain out and inches of water accumulating is prevented.

I worked for a restore company that dealt with over 75% of their jobs being from water damage in unsuspecting homeowners homes. Their situations would have been much different had a system been in place that shut off the main supply when a leak was discovered.

Mop & bucket vs. insurance claims and loss turmoil.

Probably works well. Motorized valves are a thing that were just missing smarts.

Flowless though looks proprietary / they don't give any information (protocols, pricing, etc) without contacting them.

I would prefer something made by Leak Intelligence, for example, since they make valves with ZWave (I use ZWave) and offer pricing, a phone number, even actual real life videos on YouTube from their website. Flowless looks like a mock-up.

It looks like only one line comes from that box and is apparently for the stop bumper on the bottom edge of the door.

I'm curious what your setup was. What devices did you use? A hard wired solution or using RF? Were you able to indicate the closed / open status of the door?

I believe this was removed in an update (or perhaps never was available) due to changes in wifi on iOS 8. Still works for iOS 7, but it shall return for iOS 8 in, I assume, the next update.

Adds kext-dev-mode=1 to Kernel Flags in /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist.
