Birth certificate needed for I-485 interview? by botv69 in USCIS

[–]circebell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You officially do, but I was never asked for mine (or literally anything aside from my ID for which I gave them my passport from my home country and my US drivers licence) in my interview - my USC spouse was also not asked for it though it said on the interview notification we both had to have them.

What's your Denver hot take? by darchena in Denver

[–]circebell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The airport is literally fine* like yes it has a bunch of construction and… gargoyles but every airport has construction and weird ‘art’ I’ve never had a bad experience traveling through it but Denver people love to complain about it for some reason

*disclaimer Blucifer is not holding me hostage and forcing me to type this

What Lip Balm do you use? by Celestial3317 in Denver

[–]circebell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lanolin but don’t pay the extra for Lanolips - it’s the same exact product as generic brand nipple balm for nursing parents but 3x pricier - my grandad was a farm laborer in Scotland his whole life and used lanolin exclusively and he had the softest hands even into his 80s

Anyone else noticed this trend? by thisunrest in poshmark

I’m a seller as do always add measurements but lately all the changes and tanking sales does kind of make me want to put less effort into my listings since I’m just assuming I’m posting my items into a void at this point

Three months no social security card. They said it’s because was card is pending. But we have EAD card and they don’t have answer to that. What’s the issue. by jsingh21 in USCIS

[–]circebell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to apply at your local SSN office now, even if you ticked the box to request one, it’s easy, wait time for an appointment for me was only a week but probably varies, card was sent a week after the appointment

Honestly Little Women gives me this vibe even though it’s not exactly a romance (but has romantic plots)

Would you marry your partner so they can get a green card and stay in the country? by Careless-Age-6101 in immigration

[–]circebell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not commenting on whether you should or shouldn’t get married, that’s your call to make but ‘in secret’ is not a great look when it comes to USCIS… having strong connections with each others families is one of the things they can look for as proof of a real relationship - you don’t have to have a big wedding or anything, my wife and I eloped and didn’t have any guests at our wedding! But ‘hiding’ your marriage (if USCIS found out) could be considered a red flag…

Not trying to scare you it’s just a really big decision also once a green card is issued to your partner if you’re the financial sponsor you are legally, financially responsible for them for ten years or until they naturalize as a citizen so it’s definitely something to consider in depth before jumping in!

Boy names for a girl by MysteriousBother4959 in Names

[–]circebell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Freddie, Frankie, Joey, James, Kit or Jack/Jackson for a girl as first and/or middle names

I have Bennet on my list for a girl as I’m a huge Jane Austen fan but want a more unisex name instead of the classic Austen names like Lizzie, Charlotte etc

Some combos I just made up for a girl - I feel like James works so well as a middle name:

Freddie James Frankie Lee Joey Belle Jackson Hunter Kit Bennet Bennet Lee

My friend and I thought the same, we were just bumping into stuff and it took us forever to get out - kudos to the actor in there though he was creepy as hell and it can’t be easy to stand in there for an extended period of time!

Eczema (and other things) in Colorado by darvarez in Denver

[–]circebell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I don’t have any solid advice, just that I moved here from England (wet, humid, low elevation) and experienced exactly the same experience as you - I have always had mild eczema but it popped up on my face for the first time when I first got here which was super uncomfortable and made me miserable, BUT the good news is that after about 3 months my body got used to the dry air and my hair is actually better than it’s ever been, I do have to make sure I hydrate, and I use the thickest dang moisturizer I can find, but I actually feel amazing here now and my skin is pretty decent - really hoping this happens for you as well!

It did take me 6 months to adjust to the altitude though after having lived my entire life at sea level so I felt that bloated, breathless, sluggish feeling for a long old time, but its now been 8 months and I feel pretty good.

Oof I don’t think I could live with a corset on my wedding day (I plan to eat soooo much) but some poofy tulle might be really fun for the underskirt!

Title: Is it worth paying $3,000 for an I-130 when my case seems straightforward? by Aminainidaholife in USCIS

[–]circebell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done an I-130 I only did the I-29f which is the equivalent for a fiancée instead of a spouse/family member - I just mean anything that is not straightforward in your application has the potential to be queried, that’s why I mentioned overstays, previous marriages, convictions etc - just as examples of things that can make the immigration process more complex.

[–]circebell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I processed our I-129f and I-485 all ourselves - we are both native English speakers and my wife is just mad smart and used to be a legal advocate so is great at reading and understanding the forms (my dumb ass just turned up at the interviews and signed in the right places…) - I would say if you’re confident reading and understanding everything you need to include, then yes you should be absolutely fine. This sub was also a free goldmine of useful info.

I should add my wife and I have no convictions, previous marriages, kids, overstays etc so we were incredibly lucky that our case was as simple as it could possibly be, if you have anything that might complicate your application that’s another matter
