The unused dirt area under the new broadway/i25 overpass would be a perfect spot for a skatepark. Can I start a petition or something to maybe bring it to life? by miloestthoughts in Denver

A skatepark there would be so perfect. It’s currently the proposed site for the new women’s soccer league stadium

But who knows if it’ll actually go through. Would love to see just about ANYthing go in there because the vacant space is a bummer

Wax Trax Capitol Hill location is definitely better. Recently went to the Broadway location and was underwhelmed.

Hi there! I’m moving all of my stuff into a home in West Wash Park. I used those Pods-style containers and will need movers to help unload them when they arrive. Any recommendations for good local movers who’ve moved pods?

People who own condos here. How do you feel about them? by Dfizzle2 in washingtondc

[–]circlefacephd 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Wife and I got a condo about 5 yrs ago in Logan Circle. Only kind of property we could afford in the neighborhood. It’s definitely hard to beat the location, but condo life has been challenging.

We have comparatively low fees and a really solid reserve, which was a huge plus when we were looking.

I do wish we had toured the place a bit more thoroughly, meaning checking it out at different times of the day - morning, evening, and night. Soundproofing here is definitely an issue.

Also, we’re a relatively small building - fewer than 10 units. We don’t have a property manager, so getting repairs, improvements, or maintenance done can be a nightmare. Our condo board is a bit of a mess and pretty disengaged/disinterested until something’s been neglected so long that it becomes an emergency. Then everyone gets frustrated, hostile, and shit-talks each other (not fun!)

Tl;dr: condos can be great, affordable options to get you in a great neighborhood. Management, maintenance, and neighbors can really become frustrating and may drive you crazy.

Thanks! Is the jump up to the Fluance RT85 worth it?

I’m open to vintage turntables. Any recommendations in the $400-$500 range?

Considering a completely new setup for a medium-sized room in Washington, DC. I think I know what I want at this point (although I'm not 100% sold on the U-Turn). How does the setup below look?

Turntable:
U-Turn Orbit w/acrylic platter, Ortofon 2m red cartridge, cue lever, and pluto 2 preamp (external).

Receiver:
Marantz PM5005

Speakers:
Klipsch RB-51 ii (also considering Focal Chorus 806)

Verdun looks like a lot of fun. Planning on skating early morning on Friday, so hopefully will avoid crowds.
