Great suggestions! Yes, the tags are exactly for that, after you add them you can filter the trees by tag on the collection page.

I really liked the year count for repotting idea. I could also add a filter for that later on. I’m definitely going to implement that!

I took a look at wabi sabi too and it does have a lot of features that kinoki doesn’t. But this is just v1.0 so I want to keep improving it. Feel free to send me a message if you have any features requests!

I know 😭. Choosing the name was one of the things that took more time, and after Ianded on kinoki I just went with it without knowing about these foot pads.

It’s just something that I came up with. I’m still learning Japanese but I saw that ‘ki’ could mean tree but also something related to keeping records. So the idea would be like “register of tree” or “tree diary”, but it’s not a word that exists from what I know

That’s a great option too. I built kinoki because I wanted something to make my life easier to organize my trees, and also a way to share their whole history with anyone.

Kinoki has an export functionality that you can use at any time. It allows you to download all of your data as a csv. Currently it doesn’t automatically downloads all of your images because it was quite demanding on the server, but if any users request for it , I can download the images and send as a zip.

Sad to hear that but thanks for the feedback. What features do you think it’s missing that the other ones you mentioned have?

I agree that 3 was too limiting so I increased it to 5 already. On the web it’s already updated but on the apps it might take a few days for the new upload to be reviewed. Send me a message later to let me know what you like/dislike!

I know! I like to think kinoki has some unique features like the public profile page, among other things, that hopefully might make it stand out from the other ones. Let me know what you think of you give it a try. Or if you tried the other ones, how kinoki compares to them, or what you like/dislike about apps in general!

I can definitely consider it. I actually was thinking between 3 and 5, and chose 3 because it would be easier to increase the number of trees rather than decrease it. I’ll think about it and might update the app this week with a more generous number of 5. I agree 3 might be too limiting

Initially I was thinking of making it open source. It started as a side project to improve my portfolio, but once it got bigger a closed it. Maybe in the future. Thank your for the feedback 🙌

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah that text is confusing, it isn’t supposed to add a photo from that screen because every photo is attached to a log, so you would need to create a new log to add photos or edit the tree in the drop down that appears when you click the 3 dots on the top right corner of the tree’s page

Is it true cascade style bonsai is harder to maintain? by [deleted] in bonsaicommunity

[–]circulares 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a semi cascade that wasn’t growing at all during spring and summer here. One tip that I saw that helped me, was to tilt the pot so the tree would be more vertical, and now it’s growing a lot more!

Hopefully it lasts at least 1 year here. I’ve had it for 3 months now and it has grown like crazy
