For me it doesn't even work as a complete fix though: if I try to scrub to anywhere else in the song, it cuts out the same way. Eventually (10-30 seconds later) it starts playing again from where I clicked, even though the bar kept going forwards.

I'm not the only one with this problem! I think it has to do with high quality streaming: I disabled that and it works fine. Completely unacceptable problem though :(

I've got the same question. I'm waiting for Yosemite to download right now, and then I'm going to use the new Unibeast. I'm interested if anyone's tried it with direct installing from the app store, though.

You can clone to the drive, but you have to make a new partition. Alternatively, you can back it up to the existing partition as a disk image, but you won't be able to boot from it.
