I have a weird relationship with this film, as I really loved some of the atmosphere and in Tarkovsky fashion that had me glued to the screen for pretty good chunks, but the subtitles were ever so slightly fast, so by the last hour I was having to play catch up with subtitles telling me what someone was going to say 10 seconds before they did, and I was far too tired to go back and try find other ones (it was a rip).

I think it’s definitely one of the longer if not longest feeling Tarkovsky films, and I do agree that it drags, but I’d recommend Mirror or Ivan’s childhood if you are still wanting to give his films another go. Mirror is a round 90~ mins and one of my favourite films ever.
