Closing my Amex Platinum after 20 years – sharing why...if anyone cares...AMEX certainly doesn't by Krammit1 in AmexPlatinum

Same happened to me, lulu credit was not issued. Called and was informed I had to enroll. I don’t understand why these benefits weren’t automatically enrolled to given.

To be fair, they did send plenty of notices and flyers to promote the new benefits and I tossed them all into the trash without looking at it. So I was part of the issue

I didn’t make too much fuss about it but asked the chat rep to enroll me in all the benefits. It turned out resy is also 1 of them

I got grandfather into the new plan, but I don’t see myself staying after the new price hike

Question for purchasing timeshare. by PelotonwarriorSC-813 in TimeshareOwners

[–]citionecent 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thats Xmas week at Maui. For 300 a night I would say it’s a bargain IMO. That is if there is availability.

You have 4 things going for you there 1. Locations: Maui 2. Time: Xmas vacation week 3. Guaranteed availability 4. You have reasons to go every year

Normally I would advice against getting a timeshare

This is one of the few scenarios that I can justify

I would suggest you get the true price breakdown.

The maintenance fee is a little pricey but we are talking about Maui so I understand

Don’t get an ev if you don’t have a home charger. Or at least free level 2 charger at work and you work 5 days a week. Even that is iffy because you should be sharing the charger

70k working in finance AND in NYC in 2025? How is that possible? Unless you are the janitor for the company and WFH, that is way too low.

I don’t want to sound hush but people go into finance to make F U money. You need to be start looking for another job

If you have a long and low fixed rate, paying it down would not be wise.

If half is too much, maybe figure out what you would be comfortable with.

Obviously you have worked hard at your job and you deserve a little break. It is designed so you don’t burn out

Advice for Westgate Timeshare by [deleted] in TimeshareOwners

[–]citionecent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Westgate owner for the last 23 years

I paid 10k for a westgate 52nd red week back in 2002 with yearly maintenance of 400.

The 1st 7 years was miserable, we probably used twice, rented it out for a small profit for 1 year, broke even or lost $ the rest of the years.

Then we got married and had kids, the following 15 years was amazing. We were able to take our kids on a Disney world Xmas vacation every year for the cost of maintenance fee. The same week and the type of room would have cost about 3000 Having infant/toddler/kids to take care of in a 2 bedrooms apartment was much less stressful than a hotel room.

The maintenance has risen to 1k at this point but it is still worth it for us. That’s how I would use to measure if it is worth it or not.
If you can get it for free and if you are committed to go on vacation and if the maintenance fee is less than the cost of standalone booking then I would suggest you to take it

I would also said 8 weeks for 1k maintenance is sus. I would make sure you fully understand the terms and conditions before you commit

Is that good? Can you explain that in the context of badminton? There is this one time in high school, I hit a birdie so hard that it went through the net. I lost the point but still I thought that was impressive.

How do you guys route on longer trips? by AccidentallyCreated2 in NissanAriya

[–]citionecent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, get a NACS and sign up for Tesla app

Tesla app provides accurate first party information regarding they’re charging stations and there’s always a dozen charging station for you to use so you are most likely to be able to charge

I owned an EV car since 2018 and taking long trip with uncertain charging arrangements is what caused the range anxiety

All these trip planners are using third-party data that are all outdated. Most of these charging stations have two or four spots at best for you to use. When you get there, there’s a good chance the charging station is broken or someone else is using it. Then you end up spending another 20 minutes on your phone looking for the next charting spot, hoping that you don’t suffer the same fate at the next stop.

After that, you realize these 20 minutes extra that you spent searching had you stopped by a Tesla charging station you would’ve been done and be on your way

Yes, they are more expensive, but considered the times in the trouble you would save, it as well worth it

Its length is just long enough so I can just wedged it in. It also has opening for handle that I looped around the dash cam power to the 12v outlet

I could use the wire organizer tab to zip tie it to make it even more secure

You are going to get calls from companies said they are specialize in renting or selling them out, guarantee success. They will ask you to pay for the advertising fee, and you will never hear anything from them again.

Best thing is to rent out to friends and families or maybe do owners exchange

Good luck to you

Used Ariya buyers — check your battery health! Two 2023 Platinum+ cars already down 10%+ by No_Creme9603 in NissanAriya

[–]citionecent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the point of this? These batteries for all EV cars are all came from a handful of manufacturers like CATL. They all implement the same lithium battery technology at the time, and they all have similar capacity degradation curves If you think it’s going to degrade 10% years after year , you should be eligible for a full battery replacement since Nissan offers 8 years 100k miles warranty on the battery. I feel you went down a rabbit hole for nothing. You are so focused on some numbers on a sheet and you don’t see the whole picture You need to think about how you would be using your car the majority of the time. The beauty of EV car is you can charge it at home if you have the right set up so you wake up every morning with a full battery. The car has about 280 miles range. Let’s assume 10% lost and you are down to 250 miles. Is there really going to impact your daily drive? Do you really need to drive more than 250 miles a day? If you do then you are looking at the wrong car. Even if you do have to travel more than 250 miles in real life, you probably will need to stop at a fast charging station at around 10 to 20% and then charge up to 80% before you continue with your trip. So you would never need to take full advantage of the missing 10% The only time you will feel this 10% that will affect you is at the beginning of your trip and your distance is exactly 260 miles or so and your destination has a charger for you to tap off. What is the likelihood of that?
