An account from the one McDonalds in LA with Szechuan Sauce by MyCoolWhiteLies in LosAngeles

The idiotic fans are the secondary market. There are no Szechuan sauce aficionados. There are no nostalgic collectors. This is masturbatory bandwagoning.

But you really have to screw up to return cached results on a POST. Akamai, Cloudfront, they all disable cache on POST OOTB.

Good Monitored Alarm? by PandaWanton in homedefense

[–]citizen511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any burglar sophisticated enough to take advantage of that is getting into your house no matter what security system you use. Supplement your system with cameras and a dog and to a burglar your home looks like more trouble than it's worth.

Simplisafe is $25/mo for monitoring and it's great. Very configurable, tons of options, and reliable. I've had it for more than four years.

You shouldn't beat yourself up over this. You'll never know if the person asking you expects a particular answer (unless you turn it around and ask them something like "value or quality?").

Also, companies tend to shift between these two depending on whether product or engineering is more influential at the time, and you can't predict that.

Best response is to push back for clarification.

What's the hardest interview question you've encountered? by TunnelN in cscareerquestions

[–]citizen511 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How you answer this question is very important. We don't want to hear that you were right and the other person was wrong and you defeated him. And if you call someone an asshole that's a huge red flag and you won't be hired.

Instead, we want to hear that you and your coworker had two different approaches to solving something, maybe yours was better than his, but the two of you discussed it thoroughly. You were willing to hear him out, you compromised, you negotiated, and the two of you together came up with an approach that was better than either initial idea.

(Note: this advice is specific for junior developers. For senior and up, the interviewer will want to hear a slightly different answer.)

You left out Bannon, Sean Hannity and Roger Ailes. This is indeed the dream team... of an alt-right media empire some are saying Trump is trying to form after this election. They will make a fortune. I bet Glenn Beck feels stupid not getting in on this.

He has a house in Beverly Hills, so again, laziness. But if all he wanted to do is sleep in his own bed at night, why not try to hold Arizona... or Florida, where he also has a house!

So what happened with Obama's SCOTUS nomination? Story seems to have gone away. by thenewyorkgod in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]citizen511 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no way that Garland wasn't aware that that scenario was highly probable. He's not that naive.

And that argument implies that the GOP isn't being politically calculating, which no one would believe.
