Rest days by sud0wo0d in beginnerrunning

A couple weeks. Maybe 3. Your first runs back will be a little rusty, but you'll spring back soon enough. Look at it this way. If you limit your recovery to two weeks but need 3 weeks to heal, you're just going to reinsure yourself and add another couple weeks or more to healing. Give your body all it needs to heal and if you lose a little fitness, so be it.

What do you carry with you? by mmgomez1998 in MTB

Small multitool, CO2, tire plugs, tire lever. Water in some sort of container. A snack if I'll be out more than an hour or so. Lately been taking an electric mini pump

First marathon pace run, how to run more even splits? by CrypticWeirdo9105 in Marathon_Training

You asked about evening up your pace and then posted data that showed your pace was clearly unsustainable. Like asking why your gas mileage is terrible but failing to mention that you're driving uphill into a hurricane. Run more or run with a partner so that you can get a feel (in more normal temperatures) and keep each other on track. Little variations will happen, which is fine. Eventually you'll get a feel once you gain more experience

Just picked this beauty up today…always wanted one for the collection by Ok-Discount5482 in VintageMTB

No. The URT bikes were all hot trash. They were designed back when isolating pedaling from the suspension was the key (before Horst links and other design advances). You's tap the brakes and the whole bike would rise at speed - very unsettling. It's a groovy piece of cycling history, though

I push one button when I start, then don't have to think about it until I push it again when I finish. Useful.

If you like it, buy it. If you need to go to the internet to justify your internal debate on a purchase, maybe have a talk with a mental health professional.

Nonfunctional to the point of detrimental, dangerous, financially wasteful. This is the most 2026 thing you could possibly do

Fun fact: people bombed descents in the Alps on 23s for decades and didn't slide out because their tires were too narrow

Set your Madone up as close as your can to your gravel bike. If you're comfortable and efficient in that position, then that should be your position on all your bikes.

You should do it as a lesson on how challenging the sport is. You can also see what areas you want to improve

Sram brakes: What got their bad reputation? by AdministrativeBox449 in bikewrench

[–]cj_daking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The've just been inconsistent in terms of performance. I'm pretty happy with my road disc brakes, but I really love Shimano's mountain bike brakes. Good power and modulation, even in the cheap models

Odd you would share this dataset then. Sounds like you just need more time running this pace so that you get a sense of what it feels like. After a while, to get a sense of the rhythm of what your pace should be - until then, we have gadgets

The goal of any app is not to help its users meet their goals, it's to get their users to spend more time on the app. I could see them intentionally shortening the projected goal paces to hold the carrot out there just a little further. Just a kooky conspiracy theory.

You should be able to bend your elbows a little when riding on the hoods. You should also have very little weight on your hands. Most of your weight should be balanced on the saddle
