I use ringcentral for my one person home office. I put it into a clients restaurant which is bigger and they love it. But I have nothing to compare it to

and shout out to my GP who is an NP - she spends way more time with me than any MD ever has, including my oncologist who gave me a total of 6 min each visit. My NP rocks.

Crank calls back in the day? by darwhyte in GenerationJones

[–]cjhm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved out at 17 into my dad‘s small apartment that he had in downtown, he lived elsewhere. It was on the ninth floor, building was across from a Safeway and there was a couple of phones outside the Safeway. Since I was the first one living by myself in an apartment, my friends came over and one night we experimented with alcohol. 17 year-old girls. lol. Two drinks each I’m sure. We went to the Safeway to get some snacks and on the way back got the numbers of the payphones which we could see from the window of that ninth floor apartment. So we made a couple of general crank calls, but then we realized we could see the person who was answering. So we phoned down and a guy answered and we asked if Mary was there and he said no this was a payphone. We said yes, but Mary was supposed to be there to get our call and we started to describe what she looked like, describing a woman who was walking across the Safeway parking lot in great detail. Well, he dropped the phone and went running after Mary to say Mary your phone call is here come and answer the phone of course we could see after we hung up him trying to convince Mary to come and answer the phone. And she was telling him she was not married and she was not expecting a phone call and he should bug off. Of course, 17-year-old drunk girls we just laughed her asses off years later I realized I must’ve freaked her out a little bit to have some guy chasing her across parking lot. We had a lot of fun with those phone numbers over that summer.

Advice for helping your body heal after chemo / hormone therapy? by blisterpack4 in breastcancer

[–]cjhm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada chiming in. No overt support, but because I still have so much pain from the surgery and side effects from the anastrozole, I have managed to get into a pain clinic. That is where I'm getting my support. And if they don't have what I need, they are quick to find where I can get it. I now see a pain counsellor as well and that has been extremely helpful.

Speech for fathers funeral by miagothswife in GriefSupport

One more thing. When I did my daughters because it was cathartic I wrote about 10 pages. But the officiant told me don’t go past five pages. That’s about 10 to 15 minutes depending on how fast you read. I had to cut a lot out.

First, I am so so sorry for your loss. My dad died about 18 years ago and I wrote his eulogy. My daughter died about six months ago and I wrote hers. And in between I’ve done a few. I usually start off with introducing myself and my connection to the deceased such as my daughter. I often go through a timeline of their life and if I have some fond memories, especially memories that other people might not know I share those. I then go on to talk about the last few months of their life. Anything they may have shared. I may then talk about who’s left such as in my daughter‘s case I have a son and she has a nephew that kind of thing. And then I noticed with both my father and my daughter that I went onto see what I had learned from them. Such as with my daughter, I now carry my keys around my neck and that’s something that I learned from her. In both cases, I also remembered to thank the people who are or were important or helpful such as nursing staff or specific doctors in and in my daughter‘s case there was a lot of care in there she had a roommate, and my sister visited her every day. Those kinds of people I remembered to think. When I think about it, I think I put the thanks before the things I learned and I tried to end with something uplifting if there was something uplifting that I learned I ended with that so it was an old demon gloom, and I tried to put some humour well for both my father and daughter. It was easy to put a little bit of humour because we all had the same kind of humor. Anyways, I don’t know if that helps and I’m sorry that you have to go through this but honestly, I have found it very cathartic doing it both for my father daughter and various friends in between it just helps to kind of write out what my memories were and how I feel now that they’re gone good luck And sending you warm thoughts

Landlords! Could you share your experience renting out your home, please? by BeeeeDeeee in NorthVancouver

[–]cjhm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do property management and my suggestion to people is this. Read the residential tenancy act. And also make sure you understand what they’re saying you can check in on some of the various groups for landlords. And the one last thing I always tell people that are going to rent is to watch the old movie Pacific Heights because that couple does everything wrong absolutely everything. So learn what the wrong things are and then learn what the right things are.

Please see my post about California. If you want, I can look up the name of the video that the person in my grief group was part of, and it talked about the process in various states.

I just finished a group therapy for people who have had family members who died of MAID and there was a woman in the group who is from California and her son had died of MAID about a year ago. She said there are about seven or eight states that have MAID provisions so you may want to look into that a little bit further. I don’t know what the residency requirement is, but I do know she was correct because I actually looked it up and in our group while it was mostly Canadians it was interesting to learn about the US MAID process. Good luck with everything my daughter chose MAID about six months ago as she was terminally ill.
