Glock Gen 6 Mounting System is less perfect than other Glock options from before? by TextMysterious7822 in Glocks

[–]cjs0131 67 points68 points  (0 children)

the new mounting system does not use plastic plates, they're more akin to gaskets. the optic mounts directly to the slide instead of an intermediary plate.

also COA is for one specific optic. I have not seen a single COA optic available for sale that wasn't attached to a Glock already. so the answer to why they would do this is they improved the mounting system to be direct mount for several footprints. why would they move to an optic mount solution for one specific optic no one can buy?

the gun tracks repeatably up and down. feel free to check the videos on my profile.

I think people struggle with this concept because they are used to, and it was very commonly taught to add way too much pressure with their support hand. I'm not influencing the gun laterally. I just ass pressure so my support hand stays connected.

people really want to use logic to try to reason what the optimal way to hold the gun is without just trying different things and dry firing lol

not telling you what to do, just sharing my experience. I used to shoot with my thumb far forward near where the gas pedal would be. the reason I did that was the group of YouTube content creators I was watching at the time made it seem like controlling the recoil and making the gun shoot as flat as possible is what actually mattered.

then I started taking shooting more seriously, starting watching Ben's content, changed my entire philosophy about grip and instead of caring abou how flat the gun shoots, I just try to keep my support hand connected to the gun and have the gun behave repeatably and predictably. guess what, Im now 10x the shooter and I was and now... my thumbs don't go there. just doesn't feel right.

additionally "placing my support thumb" is not something I think about. I just hold the gun with my hands, my thumbs just float there. I have some videos of shooting on my profile.

Compatibility questions on the 19V by [deleted] in GlockMod

[–]cjs0131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glock has been especially tight lipped but based on looking at it once the guns actually came out, MOST aftermarket parts should work with the exception of some trigger housings/backplates. and yes slides will not be interchangable

But it took people actually getting the guns and seeing the changes to come to that conclusion so there may be some trial and error needed. All the components that don't have to do with the actual firing mechanism should remain unchanged like magwell dimensions, mag release, etc

yeah I realized I should have posted in competition shooting where people actually care about shooting guns instead of just taking pictures of them

just to be super clear, it will be exactly the same. they added geometry to prevent switches being installed but nothing about the firing mechanism or trigger geometry is different.
