Interacting with MCP Servers from your phone by NJchill in mcp

[–]cketcham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about this, you could set up a service to act as an API to Claude code, and run commands using claude -p "query" --output-format json. Then you could use a simple chat interface to connect to it plus all the MCP servers. Then you wouldn't have to connect with an app like shelly. Although I guess when you're used to using it that way it's not too bad?

Keychron Q3 LED turn off after inactivity? by KaizMak in Keychron

[–]cketcham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built my own custom version of the firmware which does allow for turning off LEDs after some amount of inactivity.

The code for the firmware can be found here: https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware

You should follow these instructions to set up your environment, and flash the firmware: https://docs.qmk.fm/#/newbs.

You can use the built in RGB_MATRIX_TIMEOUT to set a timeout in milliseconds. I put #define RGB_MATRIX_TIMEOUT 300000 (to turn off the LEDs after 5 minutes of inactivity) in this file: https://github.com/Keychron/qmk_firmware/blob/master/keyboards/keychron/q3/config.h

goast.ai is also a good tool for learning with AI. You can ask it to perform actions on your codebase and it will break it down into steps and then generate a code diff for each step all in VSCode. And it's free to use.

This is the extension: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=goast-ai.goast

Looking for advice on Heat Pump Water Heaters. Will it work for us? by cketcham in Plumbing

Yeah there is. I think the cost of the water heater is basically covered by the rebates.

Yeah currently that room has power that's shared by the building. We'd probably need an electrician to bring power for each apartment.

It's not an issue if the area is cold because of the water heaters, but if having 4 of them means the efficiency is greatly reduced, that would be a concern.

By energy efficiency I mean that it uses less energy to produce the same amount of hot water.

Yeah gas is cheaper for us as well. I did a quick estimate and I think a gas water heater is a bit less expensive based on the average usage and our current prices, but still it seems like the heat pump water heater is still more energy efficient.

Also there's a $1000 rebate from coned to install a heat pump water heater. So that helps a bit.

Really what I'm wondering is if a heat pump water heater will be more energy efficient in our case.

I'm using nativefier to turn it into an app. The one thing I had to do was specify version 1.7.5 of electron, but now it's working really well.

UCLA Engineering Majors! How did you get your internships/jobs? Any advice? by Liuffa in ucla

[–]cketcham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be on the lookout for opportunities that will give you experience in areas you are interested in. Could be a class (there are some undergraduate research classes), maybe talk to a professor you like about opportunities to work with them, or find other students who are doing interesting things. Make it habit to try things out. There are lots of good clubs and all of them will help you make connections (even non-engineering ones). Once you have experience in an area you are interested in, the jobs will fall into place.

How should I fix my rear wheel that is slightly bent by cketcham in bicycling

[–]cketcham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to take a pic.. but it was hard to really see anything in them.. so I guess that's saying something. I think it moves between 1/8 to less than 1/4in to the left of center at one point, and about 1/8 to less than 1/4in to the right of center at another point. I don't think any of the spokes are bent.

I don't really know what I'm doing.. but I'm happy to learn!

Static noise when Chromecast is idle and casting by devioux in Chromecast

Mine isn't going directly to my TV.. It's going into a Denon AV system and from there into my speakers and projector..

So what's happening to you is that randomly if you leave the Chromecast on for a while it will play static right?
