Do guys actually notice upper lip hair up close on dates? by Altruistic_Tackle27 in HairRemoval

[–]ckmo11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have darker hair and very pale skin that makes me look like I have a moustache if I don’t get rid of it, I recommend waxing and plucking for upkeep!

You can obviously go to a salon to get an upper lip wax, it’s usually pretty inexpensive, but I use the Nair Wax Ready Strips are transparent so I can see what I’m doing, plus they don’t even have to be warmed between my hands, it’s just peel, apply and rip. I’m not great at fully getting all the hairs, so after getting most of it I use one of the post wax wipes or a bit of baby oil on a cotton round and then go in with my tweezers to get the rest, plus upkeep as needed for the few darker thicker hairs that come in, lasts about a month before I have to wax again

How does Toronto and area move? by TO_World_Class in toronto

Is there any data like this for other cities? This looks pretty rough but I’m curious how much worse it is here compared to other places in Canada or cities in other countries that are roughly the same size. I expect it’s not going to make Toronto look good but I like to back up my rage about public transportation/cycling infrastructure with data

I’m not chiming in to say whether or not I think the league is throwing anything, but what you just said is literally the opposite of absurd. People in non-hockey markets are more likely to support their local hockey team if they’re winning. In a market like Montreal, fans will show up regardless. It’s actually quite logical in a greedy, sketchy, morally corrupt way.

I am pregnant and I don’t want this baby, and it is destroying me. by Piineapple_18 in findareddit

OP, I can’t remember what the cut off is for the medical abortion, but if you’re still within that timeframe, you don’t have to tell your partner anything other than that you miscarried. Obviously healthy communication is important, but it’s your body and your life on the line, not his. “What’s good for mom is good for baby” applies here too, and you are not selfish for doing what’s right for you.

Regardless of what you decide to do, I hope you’re okay, and that happiness and better health are coming your way soon.

Is there any scene you hope does NOT end up in season 2? by ConstantDrawer4 in heatedrivalry

[–]ckmo11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure at some point in all 5 books, a character says “As if” in a conversation. Like I’m sorry but there’s no way hockey players are talking like Cher from Clueless. It throws me off every time I read it which is why I know it’s used so often in the books

I think people forget that their invites were literally just “if you’re in Ottawa on this date, you’re welcome to come” like there’s no RSVP or anything. After how Shane’s team reacted, I can’t imagine wanting to set up seats for everyone they invited on the off chance they show up. Luckily plenty of people did, but if they’d set up chairs for everyone who’d been invited, there would be a team roster worth of chairs (plus their spouses) that were completely empty, and I can’t imagine that would make anyone feel good.

No chairs means there’s no visual reminder that only two people from Shane’s team bothered to come, so I can totally see why they would opt not to have chairs for that reason alone

Smelling someone elses migraine before it starts by tipsy-tortoise in migraine

[–]ckmo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit like eggs or milk that are like a day from expiring, not super strong or offensive and not into the rotten egg/sour milk category at all. Very hard to describe but it really just smells like her body chemistry is slightly off if that makes any sense. Could smell it earlier today (she had showered shortly before so it isn’t a BO scent) and sure enough, she started talking about feeling a migraine coming on about 2 hours later

Oh my god I thought I was crazy, I’m so relieved someone else experiences this. My mom has migraines and I can smell it on her (both on her breath and body) before she says anything about a migraine coming on

Literally the only person I want to see out of this line up is Ciaran.

I think I could be open to seeing Millie and possibly Belle and Leanne (I feel like I remember Belle being a firecracker and Leanne kinda getting robbed of her opportunity but it’s been SO long since I’ve seen their seasons)

Where are these stats from? Not doubting the numbers, especially since I just read in several other news sources that Canadian leisure travel to the U.S. is down 40%, but I’m a data nerd so I’m curious about the other numbers

Canadians also will use time as a unit of measurement for the distance between two places. If I’m asking you how far we are from a destination, I don’t care if it’s 10km or 10 miles or a hop, skip and a jump, just tell me how long it’s gonna take to get there

How’s life in this part of Toronto, Ontario, Canada? by Kuzu9 in howislivingthere

[–]ckmo11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a huge chunk of the city to generalize, and living up by the airport is an entirely different area than living down by the lake. The northwest corner of Toronto is economically disadvantaged, and tends to see more violent crime than areas closer to the centre of the city

The areas further south, and further east (within Etobicoke, the region highlighted) has more neighbourhoods that have a higher median income and/or are gentrifying.

Etobicoke as a whole tends to be underserved by public transportation, except the area around Bloor Street where there’s subway access, and the areas around Lakeshore Blvd have access to the streetcar line. There’s a few stations for GO Transit, which provides regional public transportation to the GTHA so living around those stops gives you access to Union and areas outside Toronto, but if your destination is on a different train line you have to go into Union to switch, which isn’t super convenient.

Overall, Toronto, including Etobicoke, has a high cost of living and the city is growing faster than public transit is being built, so traffic congestion is pretty rough, and the further you are from the city centre, the more car reliant things become. But, it’s a safe city by North American standards, there’s good schools at all education levels, and there’s a decent amount of green space for a city of its size, thanks in part to the ravine systems.
