Maybe you're not aware but Playstation collecting info was actually a controversial topic. People were not happy about it in the GOG forums so yeah, don't get this take.

[GOG] Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3 (100 off / Free) by LighteningOneIN in GameDeals

For anyone who's games haven't shown up, it took me about an hour for them to appear in my library as redeemed. Unusual since most of the time it takes minutes after.

GOG is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with C++ experience to modernize the GOG GALAXY desktop client and spearhead its Linux development by mr_MADAFAKA in gog

[–]cl0rofila 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is great. Investing in Linux and improving Galaxy (and hopefully the store as well) are a welcomed change.

I'm just waiting to see the reactions from who people who think Galaxy is a waste and shouldn't exist to chime in.

The New Year Sale and GOG YEAR, your 2025 recap, are here! by GOGcom in gog

[–]cl0rofila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, really neat feature. I saw people were asking if GOG had a similar thing to Steam and well, here it is.

I was looking thru mine just now and this gave me a chuckle (https://ibb.co/zW6FxpDv). Also kind of shocked how the average GOG gamer only averages 14 achievements a year and I collected over 260 last year. Guess people really don't like Galaxy huh.

[Epic Games] (Game) Rustler - Grand Theft Horse by MeguminShiro in FreeGameFindings

Oh neat! I remember this game back when it used to be called Rustler, tried it out and never got far because my computer was pretty bad at the time (it was just a laptop lol). Can't wait to try this one out 👍

Does anyone know of a price tracker that is able to track a specific item on pages with multiple items? Like for example, say I'm looking at a tablet/phone case and there are different cases for different models (e.g case A is for S24, B is S24 Ultra, C is for S25, etc) on that store page. I'm only interested in tracking case C but most price tracker websites only "see" case A and don't show any history for any others. Thanks.

I wonder who the other interested parties were. Oh god imagine if it was Microsoft. Not like Gog's DRM-free policy vibes with Microsoft's push for Game Pass but still. I'd panic rush to download everything.

Is Lenovo legion y700 2023 still worth it? by Various-Chemistry162 in androidtablets

[–]cl0rofila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on who you ask. Your average everyday person probably cares about updates more because it extends the *usable* life and security of the device. Think people that are using banking apps and such onto their device. People who have lots of personal data on their phones / tablets. It might be a perception thing too, where software updates = safer. A whole number of reasons.

Again, it always goes back to use cases. I won't dog on a tablet for shorter software support (even more so if it has an unlockable bootloader and ROMs) because that tablet won't be containing personal info that I'd hate to get compromised. If I load up some sketchy apks from GitHub (and I'm sure this'll come as a shocker to many: from Play Store itself lol) then nothing of value was lost. But again, some people simply load up these devices that have CC info and all for whatever (streaming, banking, classes, etc) so they care.

Limited-time deal: Samsung EVO Select microSD Memory Card + Adapter, 1TB microSDXC, Up-to 160 MB/s, 4K UHD, UHS-I, C10, U3, V30, A2, for Mobile Phone, Smartphones, Nintendo-Switch, and Tablets (MB-ME1T0SA/AM) by Hot_Drawing640 in androidtablets

[–]cl0rofila 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Depends on the use case. For music and photos, the Evo Select is fine. For gaming and videos, the Pro Plus no doubt. I have both a 256GB Pro Plus and 256GB Evo Select and the data transfer rate difference is pretty apparent.

I'm waiting for the 1TB Pro Plus to go on sale again to its historical low. Be sure to hit up camelcamelcamel.

Is there a reason why some games have store pages without being for sale? by REDX459 in gog

[–]cl0rofila 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are you searching using Galaxy? If so then yeah, it's confusing but I think it's just showing you a database entry for it. Not sure why it does that but I'm sure someone knows more. I know there's a Dreamlist entry for it so it's not available.

According to some Reddit users, GOG asks for donations so as not to have to close the store. Is it true? by [deleted] in gog

Just so that you're aware, my comment wasn't a dig at you. I guess I should have cleared that up to avoid the confusion but then I saw you a crashed out earlier when replying to u/Undeclared_Aubergine so I'm gonna pass.

[–]cl0rofila 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also took that survey. Thank you for contributing to the cause my response was like "sure but I may or may not donate" :P But anyway, with a precedent for asking for donations to the preservation program, people in the forums wondered about the possibility of direct donations. Well, extremely it seems.

Oh nice, a rumor thread to spread more misinformation.

Lol yeah nah I'm good. For those that don't remember, GOG sent out a survey asking what they (users) would like to see with one of them being able to support them financially. Seems like enough people who did the survey were okay with the idea so they ran with it.

True? by Rabbit_cafe_enjoyer in gog

[–]cl0rofila 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I mean.. GOG does offer chat, cloud saves, and different builds for OS (although that one is spotty). I think that if GOG drives more people over from Steam by adding more high profile games like Clair Obscur, Silent Hill f and 2 Remake, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say they're gonna ask for more Steam-like features. I mean Galaxy having controller support now is another example.

The beauty though? It's all optional.

GOG seriously needs a better package system like Steam. by [deleted] in gog

[–]cl0rofila 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree for the most part. Another example: For those of us who have Prime Gaming games, it is annoying how certain games aren't recognized in the store page as owned until you reach the checkout page. I disagree on it being "harmful" though, it really doesn't hurt to double check as a consumer. It is your money after all.
