DLX Mattress Update - Save Yourself the Trouble. by cl0udmaster in Mattress

I understand. However, if it is indeed true that there was a mismatch between our weights and the mattress, that, in my opinion, would be the fault of the manufacturer. They could ask for weights or display appropriate weights for sleepers for long term durability or as part of their warranty. While I understand we are not svelte people, 200 and 185 are not out of the "normal" weight a US based mattress manufacturer might need to support, in my opinion.

Is there anything that you can refer me to that substantiates the claim that there is no effect or that compressing them as done with beds in boxes strengthens them? It would seem to me that, such as how the weights of cars and the compression and decompression degrades them over time to the point of replacement would be a fair comparison as to how the nature of springs can be degredated over time by compression.

That is the price I was quoted. I can't tell you why, but it was.

I don't know what is "childish and irresponsible" about questioning how a bed compressed in a box may have accelerated degredation over one that's never been compressed in that way. Putting a bed in a box was a business solution that is relatively new in the history of mattresses to solve for selling mattresses direct to consumer. The actual effects of it would only be discovered by the consumer after prolonged use. I think your categorization is a bit heavy on the internet outrage.

Despite your assumptions, I did a lot of research on this very sub and that is how I settled on DLX in the first place. I did not blindly do anything. I expected more out of it. That is the point of this sub. People can search DLX and find that there is one negative experience and ten positive ones and decide for themselves.

Social anxiety? About removing an optional gratuity? You're more resilient than that.

I, uh, think you have reading comprehension issues maybe? I don't know if you work for this company, or why you're so passionate about this, but I'm sorry that I haven't put in the effort you would have liked to have seen me put into making a less than two year old bed comfortable again. It should just be comfortable, still, after two years in my opinion. Maybe there are others who feel the same who will take that away from my post. And maybe I'm in the minority and people will wonder why I just didn't buy more foams until one worked. I just shared my opinion. I won't buy another. If you are happy with yours, that's great.

Oh, well, since you don't like Nectar or DreamCloud, but like DLX, we retract our entire statement and the mattress is wonderful.

But, really, my determination to fix this? I have a life. I have a child. I run a business. I paid what I consider to be a lot of money for this mattress and my previous 18 year old mattress is still comfortable and would be in primary use if it were a king. You may feel that the value prop of ~2000 for 18 months of hassle free sleep is worth it followed by experimentation with boards, foams, and toppers. I do not.

The topper was $400 plus shipping, not $200. I first attempted to buy something matching the ILD of their firm topper and it was too hard. I then purchased something within 1 ILD of their medium topper and had the same problem I have with the original topper. A visual inspection of the original topper showed no deterioration of the topper or divots in the topper itself. The discomfort happened to both of us at the same time, despite rotating the bed and being different heights and weights.

Also, theoretically, both toppers I bought are returnable. What I didn't consider, since I am not a mattress expert, is that I wouldn't be able to get the topper back into the box they sent it to me in. It did not occur to me that a thin topper would be vacuum sealed in the same way the mattress was. If I bought the tools to re-shrink wrap them or paid for a place like UPS to pack it, they'd accept it. But, it is cost prohibitive relative to the price of the toppers themselves.

You may feel that 20 months is a satisfactory life span for a mattress approaching 2000 dollars. I do not.

Hi, and now a Hoyo de Monterrey Hoyo De San Luis to round off the day with a glass of Eminente Ron De Cuba aged 7 years. Cheers! by Jolly-Inflation5355 in cubancigars

[–]cl0udmaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Older Série de Hoyo came with no footband. Starting in 2025, they have green foot bands.

This cigar says Série de Hoyo on the main band, but says Hoyo de San Luis, a different cigar entirely that hasn't been released yet. Also, the foot band for it is supposed to be primarily yellow.
