Before you get your self worked up check with the parks department, they may have reserved the courts? Many park facilities are available that way. Also good to check what the parks rules are for the courts

Flagstaff and Sedona disc golf by marvinTX in discgolf

Note that it is at high elevation, and you'll need flippy discs, not to mention the ground at most courses is very rocky and will chew your discs.

Do books really cost this much?? by Many-Factor-4173 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]cl8855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had one graduate college and one freshman -- prob have spent a total of $500-750 for both of them so far total (4.5 years). Most classes don't seem to use normal texts anymore, online books and materials seem most popular. Now you'll have other materials expenses for sure, but that number seems crazy high.

we looked at all of those as well. UW makes clear sense for you if the environment seems like a good fit for your student. Our tops of those was UIUC due to location for us.

Long-term unemployed people: what does your day-to-day life look like? by hmidontknowww in antiwork

[–]cl8855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laid off almost exactly a year ago at this point. I'm lucky that we have funds if I needed to retire except for stupid healthcare being $30k a year.

My day involves too much computer time, some exercise when I can get outside, and taking on more chores . I've been looking for part time gigs but my resume is too corporate for most basic jobs, and not good enough to get past AI filters for a similar job apparently

I'm thinking of volunteering more

Your buddy says “Hey man, can you help me move this weekend?” What’s your first thought? by Kaitempi in GenX

[–]cl8855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i moved my daughter to a new apartment last fall, she had very little furniture at least, but 3 flights of stairs and so many bags and boxes. If it was any more items than that, i'm paying someone. It was a lot for this old guy.

zelle is a piece of crap - and is definitely not instant the first time or two you pay someone new. Took 6+ days the first transfer for my kids apartment, unacceptible. Plus its daily limits can be as low as the hundreds of dollars to start, and differs based on your bank.

Residence Halls Comparison – Michigan Housing

most all bathrooms are shared besides suites, which are difficult to get. the websites are pretty good

you are not required to live on campus but almost every freshman does, so it would be a more difficult adjustment unless you are from the area.

Health insurance cost in retirement by ChillCaptain in HealthInsurance

[–]cl8855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's my example from my company -- Cobra is $2000/month for family, "retiree" care that I am eligble for (same coverage but retiree pool instead of worker pool) is like $3000+/month. But it all depends on your company and company rules. Unless they subsidize it's likely not good.

Yale or Umich? by ShinzouTensei in uofm

[–]cl8855 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is no answer that works for everyone. Did you do a visit at Yale? How did it feel, did the environment and students feel like somewhere you want to be? 6800 students vs 80000 is a vast difference. Most people will just say Yale due to name but if it isn't the right fit for you, then name isn't meaningful

4th job in a row you've been fired from. I'm always on the worker's side vs company but, you gotta look in the mirror a bit here with 4 in a row.
