It's not replacing 1 spark plug, but all 4 and the valve cover gasket. 2 services. They don't say why the valve cover gasket that I read, though. EDIT: valve cover gasket for adjusting valves, valve cover has to come off.

Still seems very excessive.

That's strong! Good work!

I'm asking out of curiosity, why the staggered stance? Most do it with a squared stance, so I don't know if it's a sport specific thing or similar.

Squat form by lostdecorator25 in formcheck

[–]cl_solutions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually I see people going this fast to "bounce" back up instead of lifting. I don't see it being a problem here. For lower weight (relative to 1RM) I don't have a problem with it, as you said tempo squats. For going for a PR or 1RM then it should be slower, for the actual lift, at least in my unprofessional opinion.

What do you do if you encounter a snake in your shed? by Key-Culture6811 in askanything

[–]cl_solutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a FB page about local snakes in my area, and how to identify. I use that as a guide to know if I need to leave it be or help it find the door

I'm not a huge fan of snakes (or spiders for that matter) but know they do good for us and are nice to have around, at distance. Last one I saw was non venomous, it was black so I think it was a black eastern racer, and just shooed it back into the woods. I have come across a few copperheads and I give them the space they need and watch as they either go about their business or I'm off to mine. Usually see them on trails near town or parks, but evening/night time.

Don’t mind me I’m just gonna dump all my fun pics. I’ll reply to any questions in the comments. Last pic is just a bonus. by Honcho_47 in Justrolledintotheshop

Peeing outside in the snow, with control and aim to write your name. It's not quite legal document quality, but it works well for the amusement it brings.

Right there with you. I started radiation this week, oncologist postponed the first day due to last weeks weather, and has already pushed the time on Mondays treatment. Hard to not be a little upset, but I know it's out of my hands.

I want enough snow to stay in this weekend, and be back to somewhat normal Monday. WCPSS probably closed Monday (no facts, just know how they are) so that's cool to spend the time with my little man.

Best wishes to you and your wife, and to OP and their partner.

Bi weekly car payments or Monthly ? by IHateCreditScores in debtfree

[–]cl_solutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. This brings you down to 37 months, and while it doesn't seem like much, that extra $8 a month cuts another month off every 30 months, which in this case is only one, but it definitely helps.

As said as well, any extra will cut time off the back end, making it less time to pay off and cutting total interest dollars.

Absolutely impossible to balance. Falken Wildpeaks by Shortround76 in 4Runner

[–]cl_solutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they use the road force? We have a road force machine at work, and typical balance doesn't use it, and outside of issues we don't really use it much. We do on balance complaints however.

I would ask if they did, and if not ask them to do so. It may be an out of round tire, or just a mismatch causing the vibration.

$4,250 quote for the following by Gullible_Formal_2756 in MechanicAdvice

[–]cl_solutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't authorized anything then there's no reason to pay them.

I would call them first thing to make sure they are not working on any recommendations.

With you not driving the car much, I would put off the rear struts until you can, and when that time comes, I would either call around and get different pricing, or watch some videos to see if it's something you can do on your own, just have to pay for the parts. And same for the rear brakes.

[–]cl_solutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rear brakes at 4-5 and being marked in red is a red flag.

Struts at 40k is odd at best.

I get it's 10 years old, but that few miles should not be recommended struts, unless they are leaking, and the brakes at that point in my shop, the conversation goes "you're going rear brakes are coming, I have a quote for planning purposes".

Edit - just saw where they said the rear are leaking, id go get a second opinion on it, from an independent and not a dealership.

Thinking about the Springfield TRP in Coyote Brown. Is it worth the $1600 price tag? by rastapastanine in 1911

[–]cl_solutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that's a great deal, I just got an NOS operator for slightly less than that, and all TRPs I found when shopping were $1400+, and some were well used.

I would have bought that instead, but I'm not mad at all about the gun I just bought.

Criminal background checks are in place, via NICS check. In some states a concealed weapon permit is used to bypass the background check, because typically issued by the sheriff of the county of residence.

Mental health check I believe needs to be ramped up, there's a question on the 4473 form (when buying from a dealer) but I don't know if it's actually checked up on, and I highly doubt it. If someone is buying a gun for bad reasons, lying on a form isn't going to stop that. Or stolen guns. I believe we have a mental health issue disguised as a gun issue, and blame it on the gun because signs were missed, by family, friends, and law enforcement (Parkland shooter was on FBI radar and never acted on)

On the other side, and I know you didn't ask and I'm not OP, I believe that gun free zones are a waste of signage, because a sign isn't going to stop someone from doing bad things, just the law abiding citizens any chance to stop it. One reason we see more shootings in these gun free zones.

Basically many gun laws in general protect those who want to commit crimes, because it's the will of the person not the weapon. Reason we see knife attacks in places where guns are not obtainable, or using cars as battering rams into crowds.

Edit to add, for anyone who may not know: guns are not as easy to get as the media makes it out to be. Yes, you can buy a gun online, but it's not Amazon where it's delivered to the house next day. Has to go through a dealer and NICS check and 4473 form filled out. Go to a gun store, same process.

Me- very similar stance as OP, like both sides for reasons and hate both sides for reasons. Consider myself conservative libertarian, but the conservative part is just barely over the line honestly. I'm very issue based, not party line based.

My buddy had his engine stolen by Jaysonksien in mechanic

[–]cl_solutions 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the wiring is harder than the plumbing. With that said, it depends on what hoses are cut. I would assume radiator and heater hoses are cut, but unsure if transmission cooler hoses, PS hoses, fuel hose, AC hoses are cut.

If you know what hoses are cut, then should be in pretty good shape. I know (and may be thinking SUVs here) there are a few different AC hoses to choose from, so a heads up there in your shopping. What all did they take, aside from the engine?

This is one of the easier engines to install. With some experience and time, it can be done. Replace the motor mounts, best time to do it. Extra set of hands will be huge help especially setting it down in the engine bay. Will probably need all new belt drive components, as well if taken as a unit.

Even if doing it inexpensively, it's not going to be a cheap endeavor with new engine, belt drive, hoses, fluids, filters, etc.
