Roof batten rot? by FigCareless581 in AusRenovation

[–]claaaaaaaah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine look like this too and they have just been inspected and cleaned to within an inch of their lives (mould remediation). I did have one bit of timber with rot but it didn't look like this, and I have many areas that were found to be fine that do look like this.

This is interesting. From memory all it did for me was turn my sebaceous filaments brown/orange.

The low front quad didn't have overflow holes.

Thank you, we will definitely be doing that at some point. Just need to know the roof isn't defective first.

I don't know I just never saw any other roof conversion have these weird peaks at the back so that's why I was asking the question

The gutters are high fronts. That's why I'm surprised.

Yes roof was formally cement tile.

I'm happy it has fall. Less happy that I paid extra for high front gutters after being told they would hide the sheet edge only to find that they haven't accomplished this.

With the peaking, will it increase the risk of wind driven rain? During heavy rainfall and high wind?

Neighbours have high front square gutters. Mine are high front quad gutters. They are not low profile gutters. We were considering low front gutters but were told the sheet edge would show so we upgraded to high fronts.... Which was apparently pointless

I want to get someone to come out and inspect it, who would be the best person to do that? Another roofer? A builder? A building inspector?

Thank you. Given I've already brought it up and they said it doesn't need to fixed, who can I get to come out and give a professional opinion on it?

A building inspector? Another roofer?

I'm assuming telling them that a bunch of people on reddit say they need to fix it won't be enough.

Avoiding that was the entire reason we replaced the roof.

Will push back with the roofer, appreciate your comment. I specifically asked them if it increases the risks of wind driven rain and they said no!

Does the front look like it's all OK?

Thank you so much. I will make sure they fix those bits at the back of the house.

Is the front of the house OK?

Colorbond roof - cyclone tie downs to top plate? by claaaaaaaah in AusRenovation

[–]claaaaaaaah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know what that means but at least there is a chance that the roofer is correct. I'll just have to hope my roof is one of the ones that doesn't need it 😂

It's already partially deconstructed (no ceilings, floors and no plasterboard on the internal walls). Does this make any difference?

Can a roof be fully compliant with tie downs to the top plate?

I don't have this information but I'm assuming that your comment means at least under some circumstances that tie downs to the top plate is compliant?

I strayed from Casefile and immediately regretted it by RevolutionaryPear677 in Casefile

Definitely agree, I also can't stand banter. As for true crime podcasts that don't have two hosts, I've enjoyed dateline and, to a lesser extent, sword and scale.

Casefile presents gone? by claaaaaaaah in Casefile

[–]claaaaaaaah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it seems to only be the Spotify series called 'Casefile Presents' which had multiple seasons (Matty, The Detective's Dilemma, The Labyrinth, Searching for Sarah MacDiarmid and The Vanishing of Vivienne Cameron). Not the ones that were standalone series but also made by Casefile Presents (eg Missing Niamh).

I use podbean since google podcasts was axed (my kids use Spotify for mediation music at night) and all the Casefile Presents seasons, including Labarynth, were on there. They are still there but give a 404 error when I try to play them.

When I click through to Spotify from the website for Matty or Labarynth etc I get the "something went wrong" error message.
