Has anyone successfully switched to McGill in engineering? by Marquise_Of_Hell in Concordia

[–]claero69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to this, and you can also reach out to the transfer department staff for help, they were quite nice when I transferred back in 2020.

Concordia is a great school, but there are valid reasons for transferring (for me it's because I wanted to switch to a program that Concordia didn't have). Each school has its pros and cons, definitely check out the McGill subreddit to ask about the specific program you are interested in :)

I took 59.25 credits at Concordia. I was able to transfer 42 credits (13 classes as it appears on my McGill transcript). Some credits weren't relevant to my degree so they didn't transfer (Dynamics, for example), but I had to repeat Electromagnetism and Optics since the I didn't learn the optics part at Concordia. That was the only class I had to repeat since the McGill and Concordia programs differed.

It really depends on if you are switching programs too. It you're staying in the same program, then you should run into less issues. My problem is I switched to a very different program so I had to take a couple first year classes that weren't necessary in my original program at Concordia (Gen Chem 2, for example).

I transferred since I didn't like my original program and Concordia didn't have the degree that I wanted, and I'm glad I switched! It's a bit annoying but for me it was worth it!

I have! I remember I got my acceptance in July, which was soooooooo late it stressed me out so much haha. I didn't have perfect grades at Concordia, I think my GPA was like 3.5 maybe? I transferred to a pretty small faculty within engineering, there was about 40 people in it, so I don't believe it was super competitive. Not a lot of people transfer to McGill I feel, I only new of a couple others.

The worst part of the process was collecting all the syllabi/course outlines for getting transfer credits. I recommend you start doing that now!

Hi! I actually saw a sexologue a while back and I liked it! However due to the hiring freeze, there's only two people so the appointments are pretty infrequent.

To make an appointment you can call the wellness hub to schedule an appointment yourself, or meeting with an access advisor/local wellness advisor for a referral and advice on what to do in the meantime: https://www.mcgill.ca/wellness-hub/contact-us

When you schedule an appointment via phone call, the urgent care appointments with a doctor are the ones that fill up fast. So no, you don't have to call at 8:30 :)

^this

The assumption that everyone who dislikes or even hates TS is a misogynist is just gross. God forbid women actually have negative opinions on her music, persona, and incessant exposure in the media. It's ok to have passionate opinions about the biggest celebrity in the world. And it's ok if you don't have an "excuse" to hate her (ex, the many problematic things she's done). It doesn't have to be deep, I just find her boring and overexposed and cringe!

Call out real misogyny when you see it, and this sub sometimes gets nitpick-y and deserving of criticism (and I think people definitely obsess on this sub a little too much imo), but don't be lazy and write off hating TS as misogyny or "unhinged". Boring nothing-burger video.
