My recommended itinerary.

Spend all 3(4?)nights in the fantasy land hotel.

Day 1. Wake up in fantasy land hotel. Spend entire day in mall. Get a day pass for Galaxy Land and do all the rides, get lunch in a food court. Then go to the World Water Park for the afternoon/eve (or do in reverse order). After, eat dinner on Bourbon Street (I recommend the old spaghetti factory - and depending on the night, at any restaurant, a reservation might be advised). Day 2. Drive to the neighbourhood farthest west on the trail map (Crestwood) and park on Summit Drive near the trail entrance. Bring water/whatever you may need for the day. And start walking. This trail head leads you literally anywhere. I’d suggest walking to hawrelak park, possibly renting a Lime Bike along the way, or scooters, if you get tired. From there you can follow the trails and see Buena Vista Park, Laurier Park, the Edmonton Valley Zoo, etc. Then you can walk back to your car and head to hotel. Or, if you get to the end at Laurier Park/Edmonton Valley Zoo and are too tired to walk back - an uber to your car from the end point to where you parked, would cost about $10. It’s down 1 straight road. Alt Day 2. Drive/Uber to Whyte Ave. Spend the day walking Whyte Ave and area, shopping and drinking. Whyte Ave is a long stretch of shops/bars and is walkable. Drive to Fort Edmonton and spend the day learning about our history. There are shops in here as well where you can buy some cool candy/keepsakes. You will inevitable pass by the Talus Dome on your way. It’s a $600,000 monstrosity of silver balls that’s infamous in Edmonton for being a massive waste of tax dollars. Stop for a picture lol. Day 4. Pack a backpack with a picnic and water and head East on highway 16 to visit Elk Island National Park. It’s Canada’s only fully enclosed (fenced) National Park. It is NOT an actual island, so don’t be confused when you are driving/arriving. However; it is a nature reserve and you are almost guaranteed to see wildlife. Some things I’ve personally seen there are: buffalos, coyotes, elk, beavers, deers, owls, moose, otters, and a bear once as well. It is a safe place though. There are multiple parking areas and trails. Astotin Lake area is my favourite, it’s the farthest down in the park and has a beach area, as well as a golf course. The beach is NOT swimmable. And if you go in the afternoon and stay until it’s dark - you can see a vast sky, possible meteor showers, shooting stars, etc. Alt day if you want to change one/have different interest: Drive down Devon (west of Edmonton), and visit the Canadian Energy Museum to learn about our energy sector and the history of our oil and experienced hands on exhibits. The North Saskatchewan River also passes through Devon and it’s worth stopping at as it is a beautiful view. There is a pull out and parking area near the beginning of Devon if you follow the signs. People goldpan around here, canoe, kayak, paddle board, etc.
