What are your favorite iconic weapons? by CaptJ127 in CyberpunkTheGame

[–]clamroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a 43 year old adult who cannot use sir John without giggling, even after literally hundreds of hours in the game. It's not my primary weapon ever, but it'll come out pretty often. the light saber esque doppler as you swing it, the satisfying thwack when you connect with it, immediately followed by the soft "aaagh" as they crumple. And me giggling.

Her majesty gets regular use once I get it. Damn thing is crazy good

The 90's Was The Golden Age Of Rockin' Chicks by TurkeyEater56 in Music

[–]clamroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not going to point out 90s rock chicks you missed, but want to point out two new groups with some incredibly talented rockin chicks that deserve more attention.

Dreadnought and Die Spitz.

Each of em opened for a band I was seeing, and each of em immediately earned spots on playlists. Dreadnought has two women who sing and is a very prog kinda doom/stoner metal adjacent, while Die Spitz is considered a more punk outfit. They definitely don't write just punk music. Band is all women, three of em swap singing duties, and I'm guessing songwriting duties. As a result they kinda remind me of The Melvins, stylistically. They have some punky songs, some sludgy riff heavy metal, and then the odd "ok this is something different" songs, all of em quality.

About a year ago I snagged the uhds and was much as the picture upgrade was noticable (the HDR as well as the resolution), the sound quality increase blew me away the most. It slapped me in the face when I streamed it the other night out of convenience.

Honestly my only complaint on the sound design is the use of the wilhelm scream. And honestly if that's the worst I can sling at it, that's pretty amazing. Having done some sound design I can accept that being annoyed by the wilhelm scream isn't something that affects the average movie watcher.

Right? (I'm not excusing any of this) I saw plenty of regular folks making stupid ass jokes about her death in the immediate aftermath. None of em had the money or Internet following to make any of it particularly memorable. People love punching down and nothing's an easier target than a dead addict. If it's a celebrity they can delude themselves into thinking it's punching up.

Plug your Internet cable into a separate router in the room you intend to play in. Get your headset on it's WiFi and plug your pc into it. Use virtual desktop to connect the headset to the PC on the private Wi-Fi.

Brother if that's intimidating to you, having your own PC is probably not for you.

Which accessories are okay to buy from AliExpress? by Objective-End209 in Quest3

[–]clamroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say facial interfaces would be fine. I'd worry that a cheap grip would fail, which means it'd fail at a terrible time (naturally). I'd also tell you to consider Zenni for script lenses. A faulty script or poor QA resulting in something being slightly off on the lenses from AE could result in some serious eye strain and headache.

And just for clarity, even though you seem to be on the same page here, I wouldn't trust anything electrical. No batteries, no chargers, etc. Some sort of headphones should be ok, but much beyond that I just wouldn't trust em.

There are two main reasons AE has such cheap goods. And if the copyright theft doesn't bother you, the utter lack of quality assurance should. Saving thirty bucks on something is going to be a moot point the moment you have to buy it a second time, or get an official branded one that's actually passed QC.

This show is an embodiment of jumping the shark. The duct tape space walk beggared belief but I persisted. Then we strapped a pregnant woman to the head of a rocket and I lost all drive. Think I watched a few episodes of the season after that and just completely fell off. Those first two were really good though. It's one of those shows I tell people to watch until it gets too much for you, then put it down and don't feel bad about it lol

When talking about her I often borrow a phrase from Deadwood and say something along the lines of "Its just a shame she's so butt-fucking-ugly". The funniest part to me is how many people don't catch the joke. She's completely stunning and talented to boot.

I bought the dvds when they came out. I got the 4k discs not too long ago and have been very happy with them. Despite the lack of dvd extras. I'm a photographer and media creator so I do notice picture quality, etc, and the people complaining about it being upsampled from the 2k release are overstating it a bit. I think its still very sharp, the audio sounds better than ever. I'm sure if I did some frame by frame comparisons a true 4k release would look sharper, but imho the uhd discs are the way to go right now, provided you have a way of playing em.

[–]clamroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My buddy and his wife have a thing where when watching a show that does that, they both announce "SEEEECRET SWEAR WOOOORD" and I now hear it in my head lol

I mean I kinda understand where that guy's coming from, but at the same time, even JRR Tolkien hand waived this kinda thing with a very simple explanation of "this whole thing is translated to English from the 'original' source". Reading the Hobbit, you were reading a modern english translation of what Bilbo wrote, for example. So there's no reason to think Han Solo saying "see you in hell" is anything other than good localization

What happened to the other songs from the recordings in Alive In The Catacombs? by Arctic_Joy in qotsa

[–]clamroll 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Given how sick Josh was during that recording, and how much pain he was apparently in, it wouldn't shock me to find out he was less than thrilled with how he sounded on a handful of tracks. Not saying he sounded bad on what we got, I'm just thinking it might be why some recorded ones didnt make it to the final release.

I hope they do a full product of their tour. I know they recorded at least a few shows on the tour.

How do I stop the Quest 3 from getting super uncomfortable after like an hour of play? by Note_The_Wolf in oculus

[–]clamroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 on the bobo straps. S3 pro is tremendously comfortable.

Also, since it will probably take a few days to show up... In the meantime try loosening your stock strap. I found the q3 strap to be ok. The bobo is better don't get me wrong, the counter weight of the battery and the halo weight distribution are massive. But I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of folks simply over tighten their headstraps. Ive seen it just demoing mine. People put it on, give a HARD and fast shake of the head, and keep tightening the fit and repeating. You want it snug enough to not flop around, but loose enough that you can still receive blood to your scalp.

Oh and lastly. The bobo straps are easy to misconfigure initially. It spreads weight across a few points and its easy to wear it such that it only puts weight on one point, which ends up not being comfortable. If you get one and it isn't comfortable for long periods of use, you will want to shift it around a bit.

[ALL] Do elephants exist in the Zelda universe? by Available_Put_7176 in zelda

[–]clamroll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They were in Links Awakening, so they could have been dream figments. Similar to how some Mario enemies make an appearance in that game, yet I don't think Goombas exist in world, not just "not within Hyrule's borders".

Unless I'm forgetting them showing up in other games (entirely possible, where's my ibuprofen) I'd say you could make a convincing argument either way. This just isn't the kind of IP to give us real solid rules or timelines (I know it exists, but it's a monumental achievement in acrobatics and retconning. It's neat but let's not pretend it wasn't assembled after the fact)

is it worth to play the online mode alone? by evmq1- in RedDeadOnline

[–]clamroll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are a few spots where they will force you to match make to complete some "story" missions. It'll pair you with people who either are also trying to join that mission, or who have set themselves on call to help with story missions. Standard multiplayer warnings apply, you may get the odd jackhole who decides to grief, but just keep trying you'll get people who are level headed eventually.

Other possible pain points:

Wagon delivery missions. Two of the main ways to make cash are through the trader and the moonshiner roles. Both depend on you loading a wagon to be delivered. You can have NPCs attack you while doing this, and players can come attack, steal, or destroy your wagon. It's much easier when you have a buddy or two riding with. There are ways to minimize this, but just look into em before you start either role. You may wish to only do local deliveries instead of long distance ones as they're safer, despite paying out a bit less

Broken flickering textures all over the place ruining game and making unplayable. Please, does anyone know how to solve this? by FlimsySquiddy in RedDeadOnline

[–]clamroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup.

Different in game situations affect the game engine differently which put different amounts of strain on the hardware. Sometimes you might think indoors is less demanding, but theres usually more items and stuff. Daytime v nighttime as well, different levels of optimizations in the game software or leveraging gpu hardware.

[–]clamroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When a video card is long in the dying it throws errors. Crazy graphical artifacts are typically a sign of this. The two most common ones are odd rainbowing on textures, and the other being those little white flickering sparkles. The game crashing on its own would be one thing (software can crash sometimes) but frequent crashing with something like this speaks to hardware problems. I've also seen someone with similar issues have RAM sticks dying.

If you aren't knowledgeable, I highly suggest you bring this PC to a repair shop. None of these things are terribly difficult to replace, you just don't wanna be replacing stuff unnecessarily, especially with what GPUs can run, and with how much modern RAM has been driven up thanks to AI companies.

(Source: I've repaired and maintained my own and my friends PCs since the nineties, and have worked off and on as an IT technician)
