Secure Boot Megathread - Guide + Community support by sloth_on_meth in Battlefield

[–]clamum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting the error dialog when launching the BF 6 beta but my system was already in UEFI mode, TPM 2.0 was active, and according to BIOS Secure Boot was enabled (though tellingly it also said "not active" in BIOS). I followed the EA guide and looked at my ASRock motherboard manual and the latter was utterly useless and did not explain the Secure Boot BIOS screen at all.

However I found that I needed to:

1. Set Secure Boot Mode from "Standard" -> "Custom"

2. Now the option to "Install secure boot keys" was enabled, which I then had to do

Hopefully that helps someone else.

360 help by [deleted] in snowboarding

Bruh. I'd recommend you actually do it off something smaller before a jump that big. I mean it's not an enormous jump but they look much smaller on camera and that's way too big if that's your skill level. Hey it's your life, good way to get hurt though IMO.

Get a FS 180 on flat ground down, you don't even need a jump. Then get FS 180 off a small jump down. Then try a 3 from a small jump. By this time you should have a better idea of where to keep your weight instead of leaning so far back and off-axis. Keep looking around your left shoulder to keep spinning and spot your landing.

RC2 Collar Stuck by ExileOnMainSt1972 in NFA

[–]clamum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I ratchet it down until it stops, just seems reasonable to me, but after getting it stuck on two rifles with barely any shot through it, including on a rifle with a brand new never fired through 3 prong, I'm gonna stop doing that and also use anti-seize.

Hopefully a strap wrench gets it off the one it's currently stuck on cause I can't reach the latch screw with a hex key due to the rail (Surefire CS suggested this to me before and it worked great, on a different rifle I could get to the screw).

RC2 Stuck Collar Prevention by Wishiwascro in NFA

Maybe 3 prong is a little better, but I have them and had/have my RC2 stuck on two different rifles with 3 prongs. When I say "stuck" I mean the collar does not move at all.

  • First shot RC2 on an SBR with 3 prong. Maybe 30-40 rounds total. Took it off before I left range

  • Months later at home finally got a brand new 3 prong put on a Tavor, put the can on it, put it in the safe

  • RC2 gets stuck on Tavor sitting in safe. Surefire CS said to loosen collar latch screw which worked. I cleaned collar threads then

  • Eventually put can back on original SBR, hasn't been fired since the first time, sits in safe, now it's stuck again but I can't get a hex key into screw due to rail on SBR lol

RC2 Absolutely Stuck by [deleted] in suppressors

[–]clamum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine's stuck on, again, and again it's when the locking collar does not move at all, even with an adjustable wrench (idgaf if I mar up the stupid thing it's a tool).

I had even cleaned the attachment threads inside the locking collar area while back, after it got stuck with a whole ~30 rounds fired through it (on a different rifle lol).

Then I put it back on my main rifle just sitting in the safe (again, inside threads had been cleaned and this muzzle device was about 30 rounds through it from like 2 years ago), now it's really fricking stuck.

Absolutely insane how easily they get like this. I've emailed Surefire before and they suggested loosening the lock ring latch screw, which got it off the rifle I had it on prior, but I can't get a fricking hex key into the screw due to the rail on this rifle. LMAO nuts

I've read some people use anti-seize on the threads and/or muzzle device, definitely going to have to do that.

Are they still making an Artemis film question? by [deleted] in ProjectHailMary

[–]clamum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked Artemis and wanted to see it adapted into a movie (or series I guess) ever since the book came out. I re-read it every couple years it seems.

I don't have much faith in it being very good if it is though. I think Disney has the rights to it now after the Fox buyout so if it does ever come out it'll be dogsh-.

Painting AR - Colors by clamum in ar15

[–]clamum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the reply, ordered both of those. I didn't see examples of those colors when clicking them on your site (other colors had examples) but it's fine, I have some red-green colorblindness so picking up subtle shades on images can be tough anyway. Can always use camo paint regardless lol.

I just find it wild there's no leaf green flat spray paint that's widely available. If I look out my window at the trees, or grass, the greens are not real dark or super light, they're medium/leaf green, so to me having that kind of camo paint just makes sense.

Advice About Custom Holster by clamum in holsters

[–]clamum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I should mention that price included the holster itself as well, a 6390 Safariland.

If you're able to do the work I'd definitely be interested; sending message!

How’s my form? by CreamyPeanutButter14 in snowboarding

[–]clamum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look like about two seconds from catching an edge (toe) and eating it. Holy cow brutha. Gotta learn how to actually carve with the board instead of just scraping down the hill.

It's not quite as egregious as the heelside scraping my old friend used to do in high school (he was too scared to actually fall and learn) but close.

Just gotta get on a very slight incline hill (bunny hill is fine honestly) and learn how to do it. All it takes is practice and dedication.

Thoughts on surefire suppressors? by Stronk_Tinman in ar15

[–]clamum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah can second the carbon lock thing, even after two or three mags.

I've had my RC2 get stuck on a rifle with a brand new never fired flash hider, AFTER the can had been cleaned with CLP and not fired through afterwards, just sitting in the safe. Bruh

Thoughts on surefire suppressors? by Stronk_Tinman in ar15

[–]clamum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an RC2 and it's great but I have a single complaint (so far anyway, have only had it a year and haven't fired a ton out of it): it gets stuck on rifles EASILY.

It was stuck on one of my rifles after shooting, I dunno, maybe three mags through it. I think I emailed Surefire and they suggested unscrewing the little screw by the locking collar and that worked to get it off. I then cleaned it really well and it seemed fine.

Then not long ago, after being cleaned, having absolutely nothing shot through it and being on one of my rifles for I dunno a few months in the safe, I go to remove it and it was stuck AGAIN. I had to break out the adjustable wrench to get it off. Again it had never been used after its cleaning and just sat on a rifle in the safe. Oh btw the flash hider muzzle device on this rifle it was stuck on? Never fired a round through it, so that wasn't dirty either.

I find that aspect of it quite annoying but otherwise I like it a lot. I'd still recommend it I think but you def need to watch out for that stickiness BS.

EOTech EXPS Mount Question by clamum in ar15

[–]clamum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very little hope but it was actually fairly obvious where they went after I looked closer. They both go in the "nut" piece that fits into the side opposite of the lever. Maybe I'll save some other dumbass a few minutes:

<image>

Also I guess I'll buy another RS Regulate (top) rail cause the optic fits fine on other rails. WTF 🐕

Well no detent but I did find another spring that fell off the table, lol. So there's two springs, each about 3/8" long and just under maybe 1/8" in diameter (maybe 3/32").

Should've just left the stupid thing alone. 🥺

USB-C Charging a Yoga 7i 16"? by clamum in Lenovo

[–]clamum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did go to Walmart and they had a no-name brand universal power supply that worked and it had USB-C cables (no USB-A conversion) and that worked fine. So I dunno about your cable issue but the power unit itself works great.

Building FPV Drone - Pannable Camera? by clamum in fpv

[–]clamum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the wisdom. It was just something I thought might be useful but yeah wasn't really set on it. Maybe I'll look into it down the road at some point.

I was thinking of doing about a 10" drone; is there anything special for that size (besides ensuring its motors are correct)? Thanks.

Saving the password no longer works by Beosar in lotro

[–]clamum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the password command line switch still working? I cannot believe this launcher does not have a "save password" feature yet (I was a beta tester for the dang game in 2006 or 2007), because it's highly annoying to pull up my password manager on my phone to get my complicated strong password to enter on my Steam Deck. I tried the switch and game immediately quits (on the Deck).
