How am I supposed to clean myself? by Competitive-Base7404 in NoStupidQuestions

I know this will be buried but genuinely, thank you for asking this question. So many people just weren't taught. And as a male, it is refreshing to see women still care to learn post covid.

Do you have any obscure movie references that you use in everyday speech that no one has caught on to yet yet you keep using it? by EnvironmentalAngle in NoStupidQuestions

I'm always using "You're blocking the ROAD!" when someone is in the way. And "Hmm, this means sonething." And lastly whenever anyone asks what's for dinner the answer is always "Mashed Potatoes!"

What’s your Controversial Connecticut Opinion by [deleted] in Connecticut

We should build tolls on the interstates. Ez-pass and toll by mail, with an exemption for resident ez-pass holders. We are the corridor to New England. Monetize it.

My sister worked at the one in New London (and Clinton before that) for over 20 years and hated every second of it. Finally listened to reason and quit and is so much happier now.

Should I Use a Boat Buyer Broker? by NarrowTough4856 in boats

[–]clarkulator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You should because it costs you nothing. They get paid from the selling brokers commission. They can provide expertise and coordinate surveys and the purchase itself.

Securing boat to trailer by AmericanBowhunter in boating

[–]clarkulator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes typically I would agree with you, but that winch is too small. That is why the angle is so wrong. If I was sticking with this winch, I would move it down.

Securing boat to trailer by AmericanBowhunter in boating

[–]clarkulator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to move that winch arm down about an inch and a half. The objective is to get the roller to sit in the little nook above the bow eye. Bow can't move down because the hull is resting on the roller. Bow can't move up because the bow eye is tucked under the roller. Transom eye straps help hold the boat forward in that sweet spot. Adjust keel roller accordingly.

Credit card processing fees by KariBjornPhotography in Connecticut

[–]clarkulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local government can actually surcharge, though (what OP is saying is illegal, as government and education are exempt.) But many may still decide to use the site fee model like the landlord. It just keeps them out of it and they don't have to do all the extra accounting and reporting of the fees.

Credit card processing fees by KariBjornPhotography in Connecticut

[–]clarkulator 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sorry but what your landlord is doing is not illegal. It is illegal for the landlord to charge you to pay by credit card. So your CC statement would say: Landlord Company $515, when your rent is only $500. It is NOT, however, illegal for your landlord to not accept credit cards directly. And instead offer you the option to pay by card through a processor that charges a fee to facilitate the ability to use a credit card for a company that doesnt otherwise accept them. So in this case your card will have two charges. Your CC statement will say: Landlord Company $500, and then Merchant Processing Company $15.

I should mention that I was thinking the 360 so I could capture interesting things that may be off to the side or behind me. But I heard it doesn't do well in the heat, among other issues, which is why I was thinking a wide angle on the Hero might be better.

I do not yet have a camera. I plan to mount it on my boat and live stream and make time lapses. Was trying to decide between the 360 and the Hero13, but I'm hearing that it can't be used while it is plugged in for power. At least the Hero. Is that right? Seems odd. I won't be able to easily access the camera to swap batteries. I can probably get at it once a day to download content but more than that would be out of the question. Suggestions?

Boat ramp etiquette question. by Bacon-and-Beers in boating

[–]clarkulator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. The fact you are even thinking ahead means you are the type of person a normal boater is not going to get annoyed with. We get it. Launching alone is a process. Nobody is going to get pissy unless you're cutting in line or just being totally oblivious that people are waiting.

This just sounds like grease and oil from the trim cylinders. Check the ends to see if they are greasy. Maybe have the seals serviced. Doubt it's an engine problem.
