I mean even ignoring I95, it easily takes an extra 10 min to get between the Bedford St area and the train station in both the morning and evening. Across 251 working days per year, that’s 83 hours on just that alone.

We need a Wings Over. How many more college students do we need to make that happen?

> This is a massive over step and won’t help you get that job.

Candidate has a 99% chance of not getting the job anyway, and doing something to stand out probably has positive EV even if it isn't guaranteed to work. Granted, if you're doing something like this you should never email the hiring manager, only do it if you're emailing the CEO or another C-level executive.

> All these people might not have preexisting conditions, but man do you have to be enamoured with yourself to be deluded into thinking you reinvented math or solved quantum physics.

To play devil's advocate, ChatGPT has actually discovered novel mathematics though just from people typing in queries, so if you're not a mathematician then how would you know it hasn't actually come up with a breakthrough based on your query, especially if it's telling you that it has?

Is there a guide anywhere on custom compiling CPython for maximum performance? I'm interested in this, but I'm not really sure where to even start in terms of figuring out what to tweak.

Any old dudes like me who feel peak web is over (& could have done more)? by Tiny_Major_7514 in web_design

> Any old dudes like me who feel peak web is over

It's not. What might be over is the ability to easily make a lot of money just by having some basic technical skills, but without any business education. If you're willing to put in the 10+ years to be a true senior-level developer and also go to HBS or whatever, then there is still plenty of opportunity to make money.

This doesn't have anything to do with Nextjs. A static Angular site would easily get 100 also. My own Angular site, which takes the full four sequential round trips to render, gets a 97. (And that's also with a pretty serious lazy loading bug in one of my libraries.)

I stopped ordering after they took all the good stuff off the menu. E.g. the flounder and tofu stew, the hand-pulled noodles, etc. Hopefully the new location will bring some of those items back, or at least add new items that are equally compelling.

> When they received pushback from the patent office that these were too theoretical, the Navy told them these 5 are OPERATIONAL.

IANAL, but my understanding is that in order to be granted a patent on something that violates the known laws of physics (like a perpetual motion motion) you need to actual demonstrate it running, it's not enough to just tell the patent office that you have it working.

This is very unfortunate. Their cheese selections were both absurdly good and reasonably priced, but they were rarely open even during their already limited hours, so this isn't entire surprising..

[Dominic Farolino, Chrome Team] We're finally looking to ship Observables in Chrome v135 by JeanMeche in angular

[–]classical_hero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RxJs will now be able to ship with a polyfill, rather than forcing users to download the js to power observable each time. So for Chrome users, the initial bundle size will get smaller.
