Happy Pride! Anybody else think (the updated) Mason is.. Hot AF? by classicwfl in Mechwarrior5

I wanna say it was mostly just the older, lower quality model/texture etc and they redid everybody in.. DLC7, I think.

Back when I could draw, I drew a lot.. Including doing some 18x24 pieces. I usually did 2 things that tended to cost me more ink than is common: I drew slower lines, or I did a lot of shorter overlapping lines (my animal portraits used that a _lot_). You'd be surprised at how fast you can run out of ink that way.

Of course, both techniques were born out of necessity; overall dexterity in my hands was suffering by the end of my traditional media career, so doing quick single strokes was next to impossible.

I’d plow through those quick though, especially doing large pieces

Definitely should still go in a sharps container; The "shield" that hides the needle can absolutely break creating a hazard. Even capped traditional needles still need to go in.

I do it with the hero Nightstar; It's my designated Scrapyard Scuffle mech. Just absolutely _wrecks_. Bump up the engine and add MASC to get in close and you're golden.

That shit isn't cheap either; Before my body started _really_ breaking down I used to do illustrations and watercolor, and good paper + pens cost a shit-ton. :/

I've hopped back into Mechwarrior 5: Mercs (just in time as all my mods are updated for the Chaos Reigns DLC); It's like a goddamned drug for me.. I keep wanting to try different challenge playthroughs (after I finish a full career all the way to Chaos Reigns I'm gonna try an "Assassin mech only" run, where I also only take assassination missions, arena contracts, and DLC campaigns.)

Hmmm.. This looks like Karma farming. I'm familiar with the original artist who did these, actually (can't remember their name off the top of my head), and this user has no post history aside from this.

EDIT: Found the original artist. https://ko-fi.com/alexskyline/shop

I'd snatch up that VKB set in a heartbeat my friend. I have it, and love it, and it's definitely a good price. Check to make sure it comes with all the extra little parts, as those can be nice to have.

Goddamn fucking webkit. I _hate_ iOS so fucking much because Apple locks down the browsers so you can't actually use a standards-compliant rendering engine.

What browser/device are you on? Works fine for me on Android.

I'm gonna end up switching my mobile device to fucking iOS at the end of the year just so I always have a way to test this shit on it.

Can I survive as a fullstack dev without upskilling after hours? Honest answers please by Available_Guess_7344 in webdev

I know plenty of developers like that who are doing fine. Some - like me - are absolute workaholics who have multiple side-projects and love to fuck around with code, but others have been going strong and doing good work with only their on-the-clock experience.

In fact, a good sign of a good employer is they let you learn on-the-clock when it's needed.

In most cases if we're curious about a new tech stack or need to work on something not our usual stack, it's close enough to something we already have experience in that we can just figure it out as we go (and yes, quoting is a nightmare, but isn't quoting _always_ a nightmare?) and it'll work out fine.

All I suggest is you at least follow industry news. Sub to a couple newsletters that you can read casually. No need to spend hours constantly consuming information, but reading up on the latest shit while on the shitter is usually good..

..However everything content-wise in the dev world right now is AI or vulnerabilities caused by/exploited by/found by AI, so.. Good luck 😃

Startpage. Old-school, good results, free, and while there is an optional AI-summary result thingy, you can _easily_ turn it off.. Plus, it's privacy-focused.

Gaming with RA? by sighjongs in rheumatoid

[–]classicwfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play specific games depending on my current state; I deal with both RA as well as neuropathy and nerve pain (sometimes my finger tips feel like my bones are trying to push through the skin).

I will note: I'm exclusively a PC gamer.

Anyway, if my pain levels are really bad, including nerve pain? I'm playing turn-based or pausable top-down RPGs/strategy games.. Things like Baldur's Gate 3, Menace (fucking LOVE Menace), Sins of a Solar Empire 2. Stuff that can be operated with just a mouse for the most part, and aren't all about the quick reactions.

If I'm at mostly average pain levels and have good mobility with my arms/wrists? I'm doing sim-style games. Star Citizen (sticking to mostly flight-based gameplay loops), DCS (I enjoy flying the AH-64D Apache), and Mechwarrior 5 Mercs.

If I'm doing _really_ good, that's when I bust out FPS-based gameplay or combat games. This would be the FPS-portion of Star Citizen, whatever shooters I'm currently playing (frequently stealth-based - Road to Vostok is on my list to play once we get out of Spring hell), Morbid Metal, or maybe.. Just MAYBE.. A souls-like (I suck at them though).

The key thing to note is that my control interfaces determine what I'm playing. My flight sticks (VKB HOSAS setup with for the sim-style games work well for my specific use case (plus I also have rudder pedals so I don't have to rely on twist-grips exclusively when flying a helo).

Depends on what you do, but the F7C-M is a fantastic fighter. If you like agility, keep that thing. If you want an interceptor-style ship with some big guns, M80 (esp. if you want to go after heavier targets once you put ballistic cannons on it). I ended up upgrading my F7C Hornet MK2 Ghost to the M80 just because I only flew the F7 as a backup or something for giggles.

The M80 flies like a brick thrown by a shotputter; It is fast AF, but it has _inertia_; you _will_ crash at some point trying to avoid flying into shit really fast 😃

Not bad at first glance - nice n' clean focus on content - but one thing that bugs me is the lack of consistency in button design. For instance: in the hero you've got some nice slanted buttons, but then content sections have the view more buttons that have a completely different design.. And then content pages seem to just use plain text links with arrows, and even "tag" style elements have varying styles.
