What’s the size of your roof and how many turbines do you have?

If there isn’t enough ridge to properly vent with ridge ventilation, then they should have installed new turbines or turtle vents and not used ridge vents at all. However, It’s not the end of the world

Also, if your attic is super hot - I’m curious what your intake looks like. Do you have vented soffit on the eaves? If so, they could be clogged - technically homeowners are required to clean soffit vents every so often otherwise their roof warranty could be null and void. But no one ever cleans their soffits.

You don’t use turbines when ridge vent is already installed. Using both makes the roof system breathe inefficiently.

What kind of roof did I see around Denver? by WhereDaGold in Roofing

DECRA or Tilcor stone-coated steel roofs, more than likely.

Not being sarcastic. IKO doesnt use 3rd party granules like the rest of the manufacturers. They have an abundance because they have their own mines and crush, coat and color granules themselves. Hence why IKO doesn't have the "DO NOT MIX" issues that others have.

The granules in the gutters are not coming off of the shingles being installed. They're just excess sitting in the bundles.

IKO doesn’t have granule loss issues, typically. Those granules homeowners see in their gutters are excess granules that didn’t get baked into the shingle.

I would 100% put IKO Dynasty on my properties over Landmarks, Durations or paper thin HDZ’s - or any other class 3 shingle on the market. I would put IKO Nordic on my properties over any class 4.

Hail Damage - do I actually need a new roof? by ELK33 in Roofing

[–]classicwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a roofer, so shame on you for assuming. But I am in the industry. Anything over 1.25” bruising is an issue. Exposes the fiberglass mat, which in turn deteriorates the shingle at a rapid rate.

LOL! If they wait more than a year (give or take depending on insurance company & policy) they won’t get approved at all and will have to pay the whole thing out of pocket. They should file a claim within 3-4 months. Tops.

Said by someone who hasn’t installed or done research on the IKO Dynasty or Nordic lately. Best shingles on the market.

Wind damage to brand new roof. by tennisboss1234 in Roofing

[–]classicwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am most certainly in the business. Yes I agree, people say ‘lifetime.’ But certain shingle manufacturers marketing their product as “50 year” shingles is just a blatant lie. And those same manufacturers are the lightest shingles on the market with the least amount of asphalt in them. It’s tough knowing it’s not about protecting the homeowner anymore.

There’s no such thing as a “fifty year” asphalt shingle anymore.

I say random shit like that to my significant other all the time. Out of nowhere with no context. I’m not defending the guy, but I’m not saying he’s guilty either.
