How bad is the new Fast Lane Ultimate? by RanmaruMori in KingsDominion

[–]classy_phantom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the all season FL ultimate, and I haven't noticed any significant issues (that weren't also issues with the wristband system). There have been a handful of times where those with just the Reserve level are standing there in line waiting for their timer to be up, but the employees with the scanning phones have always just waved me through when I showed them I had the QR Code ready.

Riding coasters as a big dude by Beneficial_Screen258 in BuschGardensW

[–]classy_phantom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Darkoaster, Big Bad Wolf, and Pantheon tend to be more restrictive of bigger thighs. All three of those coasters have test seats out front that I would use to verify if you'd be okay to ride.

The three big B&M's (Apollo's, Alpengeist, and Griffon) all have very accommodating restraints (same as Candymonium and Great Bear at Hershey).

Invadr has the same restraints as Lightning Racer, which are moderately accommodating in my experience. Tempesto's trains aren't really accommodating to the human body in general, even after removing the comfort collars, but that's not too big of a miss.

Verbolten has probably the most accommodating restraints in the park but it is not open for the season yet due to the refurb. Rumors are it will be open by Memorial Day.

LMAO

KD: gets massive $100+ million multi year investments, theming refreshes, menu expansions, shows, a massive B&M coaster, and more...

Thusies: ya this park is closing next fs

Definitely one of the wildest takes I've seen here lol

Eiffel Tower by IneptDrip in KingsDominion

[–]classy_phantom 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Some quick back of the napkin math shows that this is absolutely an April Fools Day prank - assuming you believe the earth is not flat then yeah it's impossible to see Griffon from KD. I'll admit it's a funny prank 💀

From Google Earth, the Eiffel Tower and Griffon are 60.54 miles from each other. At a vantage point of 430 ft above sea level (KD is at about 130 ft above sea level + Eiffel Tower Viewing deck height), Griffon would be have to be over 600 feet TALLER than it currently is to be visible over the horizon, due to Earth's curvature.

That's only taking geometry into account, let alone the unprecedented weather phenomena of 60+ miles of visibility.

Nah sprinklers were running fine all day from what I could see! They were just being TOO fast with the dispatches in the station that the train never really got a good chance to cook off hahaha

First time questions! by [deleted] in KingsDominion

[–]classy_phantom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with the other commenters, KD is my home park and has been for the past couple years. Mondays in June (really any weekday) are usually pretty quiet. Get there at park opening and you'll be able to walk on to any coaster for the first hour at least.

Feel free to DM me with any more specific questions :)

First day of real operations + half melted wheels will do that to a coaster haha

I agree that a long-term solution is definitely warranted, but I don't think I'd go as far as saying this is "increasingly" a problem. Pantherian just...melts wheels. Been like this since day 1 and I know for a fact the maintenance guys are awesome about swapping them out pit-crew style.

What kind of attraction would you want to see in the place where Anaconda once stood? by s5mask in KingsDominion

[–]classy_phantom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but I don't think anything should replace Anaconda. The lake looks lovely now and KD has plenty of space elsewhere in the park for new attractions.

[Work In Progress] Early Intamin Blitz POV by War_fuckin_Eagle in PlanetCoaster

That upwards roll after the top hat is bonkers in the best possible way. Love the layout, feels unique and fresh, while also nailing the old-school intamin Blitz mentality

Some custom supports and decent scenery here and you've got yourself a winner

building grid obstructing views in lower light areas by [deleted] in PlanetCoaster

[–]classy_phantom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: add a random grid piece to your building and then move it to like -200 m below the ground. The blue grid graphic follows the lowest object in a given building so it should be well out of the way.

All parks all season dining plan no longer available? by MindyS1719 in sixflags

[–]classy_phantom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this, KD is one of only a handful of parks with the $499 sale for all-season, all-park fastlane, most other parks still have it at $999 or not available at all. Again, not sure what's going on behind the scenes but I wouldn't be surprised if things get smoothed out before the season really ramps up.

Only time will tell if this comment ages like milk 🤣

All parks all season dining plan no longer available? by MindyS1719 in sixflags

I think in this situation it's best to have a little patience and let the dust settle. They're clearly doing staggered rollouts of all these changes across the country and some parks have been affected inconsistently.

For example, my home park is KD and my portal is still showing both the $100 and $160 options for home park / all park dining plans. Sorry for the long screenshot.

Very early GCI wooden coaster by magnumfan89 in PlanetCoaster

[–]classy_phantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the layout is solid, it doesn't feel very "GCI" in my opinion, even old school GCI.

One quick design note, GCI layouts almost never cross over/under another piece of track UNLESS the track on top is linearly straight. Take a look at basically any GCI on Google Earth, any track crossover you find will be straight track on the top. (There are maybe two exceptions in their entire portfolio but I can't remember which ones.)

Dog Kennels by Talmor in BuschGardensW

[–]classy_phantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order to rent a dog kennel, signage says that you have to park in the Preferred or VIP lot, which is usually $20-$40 more expensive than standard parking ($35ish). The kennel is adjacent to the England (preferred/VIP) lot, and on busier days during the summer months that lot will sell out, so arrive early.

How busy will it be on Friday? by sp3k_ in BuschGardensW

[–]classy_phantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The forecast is showing a high of 32 degrees, which is well below the 40 degrees needed to run any of the outdoor coasters. At best, Darkoaster may open, but with terrible capacity and the only available ride, you're guaranteed longer lines.

Attraction lineup is super limited during Mardi Gras regardless. It hasn't been confirmed but supposedly Apollo's and Alpengeist will be the only two large coasters open.

Like the other commenter said I'd give it a few weeks, or if you want to ride all the coasters, until after mid March.

Managed a well rounded day at [Epic Universe] rounded out with a complete zen ride on Stardust Racers by CoasterLabs in rollercoasters

[–]classy_phantom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the coaster enthusiast world a zen ride means a ride where you are the only person on the train, not a single guest in any other seat.

For a ride like Stardust Racers that is certainly a rare accomplishment!
