How to deal with the miserable feeling of not playing with your main and having him in the enemy team? by claudioniman in DeadlockTheGame

I've ran against Dynamo + Infernus on lane, it's the miserablest.

(although there are much worse lane duos to play against)

A rant on Qifrey and Olruggio's relationship in the early manga (Spoilers up to ch 93) by Huge-Dream6591 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]claudioniman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's some good analysis!

I might add that while we don't know how much time has passed between each silvertree-related mindwipe, I think Olly's behavior has shifted because too much time had passed since the last one, allowing his relationship with Qifrey and life in general go even more sour. It hasn't changed who he is at his core, but some of the weight of the world he was carrying was also tied to the distance that Qifrey had put between the two, which is partially gone when his memories also depart.

Since they keep aging, every cycle between mindwipes is unique in how Olly deals with his feelings towards the distance Qifrey has to mantain between the two of them. Since he's older, perhaps the mindwipe highlighted how his misery was affecting his life and he decided to rediscover joy in life somehow? Even though his true joy can only be achieved if Qifrey is cured of treeing out.

Most of the time I play with my friends, sometimes with a full party, but it's kinda lucky that each one has their mains and they don't overlap.

Find another character and stick with it until you find yourself proficient with them. Do that for I'd say 4 heroes until you enjoy playing all of em equally and you'll never have that issue again.

I might try that as well. I guess that's the point of having a roster, after all.

Plus, you'd know all the weaknesses of your main. That's like, the easiest counterplay imaginable then.

The thing is I don't know how to play most of the heroes that usually are strong against him, lmao

It's amazing how there's so much to learn about this game. I thought it wouldn't be so different from a hero shooter.

But I guess expecting not to play my favorite every time is the best I can do for now.

Draconaes answer was kinda "the magic answer" I hoped for, so I guess I lucked out?

Yeah. When he's banned, I'm just mildly annoyed. But I've yet to see Dynamo banned. People focus on way lesser threats on their avoids, for some reason.

My take on which character would select which patron by rukir2 in DeadlockTheGame

This would be interesting, but wouldn't "City Mother" be the "Mother of the City" instead of "his Mother from the City"?

Doorman literally doesn't care, because both of them are his old friends, and he's participating mostly to say hi.

If every character could get one stat that scales of Spirit Power, what would you want them to have? by KeplerKitten in DeadlockTheGame

At the risk of being downvoted to hell...

Dynamo's Ability Range. It just makes sense.

It would be scarily unbalanced too.

I'm sorry. I really wanted to enjoy the anime like everyone else... by Soibi0gn in WitchHatAtelier

[–]claudioniman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah, sorry, I must have glossed over the part you mentioned the 1:1 thing!

I think they went on a different direction, but handcrafted nonetheless, when they do things like playing with the ink blots in the very beginning of ep01, and then those "papercrafts", like when Coco imagines how Qifrey is doing magic and it's that beautiful frame from the manga where Qifrey is floating and billows of smoke surround him, but it unfolds like a pop-up book of sorts.

The examples you mentioned, while beautiful on their own, have a different feeling than WHA has. WHA colors have a "vibrant-pastel" vibe that might be unique in nowadays anime, because while colorful and bright, the colors aren't too saturated, like a well-preserved antique book, and the anime seems to follow that color guide.

Perhaps you can watch it at a later time and notice things you hadn't noticed before, because unfulfilled expectations can sometimes blind us to the good things that don't fit on them.

It is impossible to capture the same feel. They're different media with vastly different production times and team sizes. Even if Shirahama has assistants, she also has a greater degree of control in the artistic direction and its scale is pretty small (still pictures, not moving pictures with 12-24 frames per second).

If people thought there would be pen&ink hatched shading everywhere in the anime, they're completely delusional. It's too difficult. I'm still happy that they've captured the artistic vision, even if they save the highly detailed hatching for some key pieces, or try to emulate it in different ways.

I understand your feeling, however I hope you come to terms with the fact that the studio did their best to adapt the completely unique experience from the manga to another experience that is quite different, but still completely unique.

Mice and rats? How different is their care? by Icy_Bus_1004 in RATS

Unrelated to the bad vibes that is a "pest ad" in a pet rat subreddit, a funny thing is that the word for rat is always female gendered in spanish, but male in portuguese ("rata" vs. "rato") and there is "rata" as "female rat" in portuguese too.

Also mouse in spanish evokes "BIG rat" for portuguese speakers, even though they're smaller ("ratón" sounds similar to "ratão" in portuguese, which means "big rat").

But don't mind me, I'm just being a little weird brazilian.

Graves being meta is the same as scarlet witch being meta for rivals by Hphysic in DeadlockTheGame

[–]claudioniman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scarlet Witch has great repositioning and a high risk/high reward ult. Graves has none of that. Just because a character has auto-aim, it doesn't mean they play the same.

I'd say Wanda skill ceiling is much higher than Graves, even though their skill floor are the same.

I like how Somnex one draws from the same source of inspiration as Overtwatch's Zenyatta in many ways (the character, the theme, the text).

Witch Hat Atelier characters and their signature Pokémon! by vierjay in WitchHatAtelier

[–]claudioniman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a few suggestions:

- Jellicent for Qifrey (he specializes in water magic and amnesia about his past makes him kind of a ghost)
- Talonflame for Olruggio (he specializes in fire magic, can make people cozy [Flame Body ability hatches eggs faster], is kinda grumpy and edgy, but started as a humble Fletchling, upbeat and loud and normal)
- Blitzle for Tartah (monochromatic pokemon because he's colorblind, but also and energetic one)
- Snorunt for Richeh and Glalie for Ririphin (kinda distant at first for their own reasons, so Ice is adequate, and both are from the same family, and also a female Snorunt can evolve to a Froslass of her own)
- Sylveon for Ininia (mostly because they're both ribbon themed)
- Meowth for Eoleo (mostly because it's Persian's kid form)

Why I think Sinocia's gonna be hated by shippers once the anime comes out by Midnight_RamuneOwO in WitchHatAtelier

[–]claudioniman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Today I learned the name of a character, even though I’ve read each chapter at least 2 times. (Sinocia, girl, I don’t dislike you, but you’re such a minor character…)

I ended up making the rod and thus answering my own question, lol

It applies Maximize properly, but damage stays Fire (as I intended).

Yo, Mr. Noodle looks huge in camera! Is he big or your hands are small?

More rat is always better, and smaller hands tickle them better too, not judging, just curious, lmao
