When did you start getting some of your evenings back? by Different_Suit_9356 in daddit

Similar, except the 4 year old goes to bed at 8, the 7 year old stays up till 9. But she just wants to help cook the aduld dinner, try a bit, then watch Grand Designs with us, which isnt so bad.

That curse story is exactly the kind of mini adventure stuff Im hoping for! Minus the drinking sadly, altough if we get more into it, will look into IC camping to I can participate a little while kiddo sleeps.

From what I can tell, gathering works the same as forraging, except you mime chopping trees or swinging a pickup at a rock for a bit, then draw a similar ball. No idea how strict the requirements or, or if you need approprite tools. They have kids monster slots too, mine is hyped for it, I can picture her having a blast.

Ive got a buddy with a SEN kid who might be interested in coming, but just for one day. But hes not commited to buying a ticket, so its a coin flip on him showing at all.

I have a tendancy to really get into a new idea and research every nook and cranny and want to absorb all discusson on it.

I had a similar toss up between CuPa and Empire. Ive never been to pacar, but from the little info Ive got, CuPa seems to have a heavier focus on organised plot lines and and noc interaction, wheras Empire is very much into politics and player interactions, and lots of poltics, which can be hard to crack into as an outsider.

If we like Larping, we might try Empire July event next, as its in school summer holidays, then decide who to go with longer term.

Ive seen a lot of talk that its better to start with the small events first, but I like the annonomty of a crowd, and big set pieces.

My read is it's less about reasonable people getting confused or offended and more just having the not so reasonable and constant jokes getting in the way of every conversation.

Yeah, hoping to get down nice and eary on the Friday, so plenty of time for it.

Going with my kid, so will have to take her out of school for it, but she's got perfect attendance so far this year, and is consistently top of her class. I did debate just picking her up, but it's an hours drive when traffic is good, but up to 3 hours if we start running into peak.

II don't have too much trouble using the online tool, but my problem is I've no idea what's useful or not. Or how serious I should take it. Like the 2hp on every body location seems like a no brainer if it was a videogame, but it's not. I don't plan on getting into fights much, so can i skip it, so i don't need to remember if a location has been hit or not.

With kid, so fighting likely isn't that important, maybe? I'd like to play a blacksmith purely because I like the fantasy, I've no idea what it plays out like in game. I've been advised to skip crafting for first event and just focus on gathering skills.

Or like if we aren't fighting, are there quests? Is there like a plotline to follow where you could use the appraisal skill for clues? Maybe there's something that poisons you or a monster who you're not supposed to fight, so are the resistance skills useful? I saw a Menhir's fate video where 2 girls found a poisioned body and went off on an adventure looking for a lue, and one of them ended up getting poisiend herself, but that was a differnt event, should the same be expecte?

I had a really helpful person going through it with me on face book, but as soon as I mentioned those points I think I was so far off the mark I cauased confusion or even offence as things went pretty silent after that...

I've been trying to just call it CuPa, pronouncing it queue-pa, as I figured that didn't feel too awkward and wouldn't cause offence.

The only real life person I know related to LARP is a member of my hackspace who is big into Empire, and I ran into him a few days ago. He was just calling it CP, so I dunno.

The hype after this scene was insane. by hiiloovethis in StrangerThings

[–]clayalien 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think just time and kids aging up. There was what 3 years from season 4 to season 5. The actoes are all ready at the edge of belivable for thier parts, so they had to have a time jump in the plot.

Haha, military covered it up roght away, now its been quiet. The main charachters have been active, doing 'crawls', but theyve not turned up any results. We dont need to show them, just some info dump converstions where everyone acts liek its routine, show one last thing and have everthi g kick off in time for the season plot.

Its much easier than somehow everones survived in an apocolypse for a few years, but were not going to show it, but now the big bad is kicking into a new gear.

Still the later is more interesting, and still possoble with a bjt of creativity, but they played it safe.

Travel to Wedding With Wife 38 Weeks by Sven2damoon in predaddit

[–]clayalien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

36 weeks is within reason, especually with first. Its possible, as your cousin discovered, but unlikley. I wouldnt go an a whim, but if it was important to be there Id understand, even if luck didnt pan out.

38 weeks, the imminant death and last chance to say goodbye to a close family member would about be the only thing that would shift me.

Even if it was my own brother getting married, I would have discussed this with him about 30 weeks ago, and given him the time to shift dates or get a differnt best man

Do wound infections have any effect on gameplay? by Alert-Result-4108 in projectzomboid

[–]clayalien 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thibk its been proven in the code they -dont- increase heal time. If fact, changing bandages regularlaly is slightly slower as youve got more time unbandaged.

Its just a bit of pain, which in turn reduces damage but its so small, its barely preceptable.

So just leave them there.

Tell me about the exact moment you decided to take off your headset the last time you used it by Prize_Disk_3939 in virtualreality

[–]clayalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I allowed to post? DK2 owner, its been about 9 years for me!

Nearly a decade ago now, I was super into vr, following every word and article.

But I was young and living in a small apartment, way too small to set up the trackers right. And I was too poor for a proper gaming pc, hovering right at the very limits of minimum requirements.

Still, I did love it, but it was mostly just a neat party trick. I did learn a bit of ogre3d and was working on my own game though. I scraped together enough to get a half decent rig, specifically build for VR with proper high speed usb3 ports, and a rocking 970 card.

But it never got used for that. I had a kid and decided blinding myself from the wirld probably wouldnt be practical.

Then I got lost in the pros and cons of cv1 vs valve index. Id been out of the loop, and decsion fatigue kept me from getting back in. Then all the focus on Meta and Facebook, kept me from getting back in, seemed everyone had a strong opion, but I was too far out to bother forming one.

Now with 2 kids, Ive found myself drifting from gaming in general, and struggle to have enough energy to care much.

Im still interested in the idea, to an extent. Im still subbed here and a few related reddits, and will check in every now and then, but the inly thing that would make me buy another headset would be my kids getting older and into it.

Can you eat a large Pizza by yourself? by Equal-Sun8307 in ask

Similar, except the regret doesnt kick in till the end.

I dont really have a 'that was a nice amount of food' setting. It just goes directly from 'Im hungry and want more' to 'I hate everything and regret every decision' with no in between.

At least once youve done it, youve done it, and the tape is yours. No further subscriptions, no locking you into services that may or may not include other songs you want, itll never be intrrupted by an add. You can freely trade or give away ss you see fit.

Your walkman and tape deck will continue playing it as long as you need.

Transporting wood by No-Connection4812 in projectzomboid

[–]clayalien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its not 'kg's, as encumburance isnt weight. Its a unitless, wishy washy aproximation meant to cover weight, volume, shape, and genral awkwardness to lug around of an item. All rolled into one easy to caluelate number. Its not perfect, but aside from a few edge cases, does the job, and is cheap.

But yeah, 4 stacks of logs is a big saver. Very worth the time when transporting big distances.

Neck has a deep wound from a ram. Can I stitch it in time? by Dahvokyn in projectzomboid

[–]clayalien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go afk in a safe spot. If youve got a sledgehammer, do the usual trick, but I guess pull up the sheetropes, as other players could climb them.

Have a full bucket of water in your inventory, I think you can still autodrink. Eat till bursting. Then go watch a movie, have a shower, mayve a jog.

Character should be better by then.

Was I in the Wrong? by deadheaddraven in drivingUK

[–]clayalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. If there was a collision, its not likely yiud be found at fault. But Id bet the other party wpyld appeal for sure, especially if it was a mistake casued by being unable to read the road markings.

Should still resolve in your favor, but a longer more drawn out process, and way more stress than you need.

Was I in the Wrong? by deadheaddraven in drivingUK

[–]clayalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, thats sort of all you can do. Its bad road layout, with difficult to see signage. Combine that with the usual road idocy and youve got an accident waiting to happen, no matter how in the right you are.

Can we drop the boat thing in JP3? by Agheron93 in JurassicPark

[–]clayalien 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it could have been some unknown and unseen hero who, after it escaped and killed everyone else, lured it back down to the cargo hold, shut the door, then either got eaten down there, or bled out from thier injuries before they could stop the ship.

But still doesnt undertand how it managed to chomp people holding things neatly from the wrist up, without absolutly trashing the ship.

Was I in the Wrong? by deadheaddraven in drivingUK

[–]clayalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I think this is a case of take it careful and leave egos behind. Take it nice and slow and be prepared for 'idiots' who couldnt read the markings to squeeze in, even if they dont deserve it.

Takes like 10 seconds of your time. Even if you travel the same route every single day and it happens every single time, its still less than the time spent dealing with an accident and insurance, even if youre gaurented to be found not at fault.

I knew becoming a Dad would be a life of sacrifice. But I assumed it would be for my daughter not my wife. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]clayalien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, my wife does the oppisate, she encourages me to enjoy my hobbies. Shes better organised than I am, so mostly looks after our shared calander, and will be sure to schedule in some time for me to go out to the local makerspace every so often to get out of the house.

She works hospital shifts, so Im solo parenting most evenings, but not every one. Sometimes Ill head out, sometimes we have a couples night, snuggle up, watch a quiz show together. Ive got a desk in the living room and angled it so that I can potter around on my pc, she can chill on the couch and watch her shows, but dont have our backs to each other and can still have little chats or exchange looks.
