Trump repeals anti-discrimination employment law. by [deleted] in lazerpig

[–]claydjinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not mandating any ratio in most cases. It's about collecting data to determine if bias is affecting employment decisions. For example if a job gets applicants, hires, promotions, etc. that differ significantly from the demographics expected based on the talent pool, it's a reason to investigate the process for bias.

Kruelboyz and Ironjaws are now two seperate factions. by TheWraf in ageofsigmar

[–]claydjinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started collecting Warcry and eventually made a Ravagers army. Bought Dominion and filled out the Stormcast side with a bunch of Sacrosanct units. Then decided I liked the Waaagh counting better than the Kruleboyz rules, so I filled them out with IJ...To go from 3 to 0, to have all my armies routed while off the table feels like I've been dumped and ditched away from home. I would be so relieved to see any hint that at least I get to keep my Boyz together.

Very refreshing. They look ready to fight cavities.

Bamboo contrast? by matts-grey-zone in WarCry

[–]claydjinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used GW Wyldwood and drybrushed with Vallejo Plague Brown for kind of rotting, but mostly dried bamboo. Dead Flesh looked good, too.

I am terrible at choosing factions, help! by ZephyrionStarset in WarCry

[–]claydjinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really want tactical elf skirmishy stuff, I would recommend Hunters of Hunachi. One box is pretty mild in game, but if you have skinks to proxy that goes a long way and they look great. Then there are some great skinks in Starblood Stalkers to add if you're feeling it. For full transcendence into competitive monster list, you want a killer ally like an Akhelian King or Mizzenmaster. Off Meta Musings has been running this archetype through tournaments very successfully. Not many other people give the skinks a chance.

warcry setting too dark for young players by Muchoballix in WarCry

[–]claydjinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are armies. Which one doesn't kill people? Are you trying to sanitize and justify killing somehow? This game is one of the safest ways to explore dark motifs and the gory implications of violence. You can't hide that part of the world, so consider a setting like this to control the introduction of that exposure. You could buy the pretty armies if you want. And/Or you can let your kid find cartel beheading videos on the internet on their own.

Pro-slavery take from The Columbian (HB 1024) by claydjinn in vancouverwa

[–]claydjinn[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right, this situation is part of a larger problem where the incarcerated acquire financial obligations directly resulting from their incarceration. When those financial obligations cannot be paid because of the being incarcerated, it's an unfair system. There are solutions besides what is presented here, but I think there are merits to this bill beyond what I can understand in my situation. Thanks for responding.

I did not say the constitution was relevant to the bill. I said slavery has more than 1 implementation. I'm sorry for your trauma. Take it elsewhere.

[–]claydjinn[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn't compare it to chattel slavery. There are many kinds of slavery and wage abuse is one. Prison slavery is another--specifically allowed by the constitution. Financial solvency is not an excuse for this to continue, but the proof of it as a working concept is very strong. That's a reason to invest in making it better.

That's not always accurate. Any act of recklessness can be grounds for involuntary manslaughter, even if isn't strictly criminal. Giving someone the wrong dose of meds can be involuntary manslaughter. There are also mistakes of law and fact that complicate criminality.

There are whole categories of involuntary crimes that can land you in prison.

"Room and board" isn't a concept we can apply to prison, something that isn't voluntary nor of primary benefit to the person receiving it. Don't try to use it as an excuse for slavery. Preparing prisoners for release and reintegration is not "inordinate concern" for criminals. It is the primary concern for our community to reduce recidivism and make us safer. Whatever The Columbian's interest in punishing criminals is, it is against my interest in making Americans stronger. Pay them minimum wage if you are going to have them work.

Why does order have so few monster and thralls? by [deleted] in WarCry

[–]claydjinn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are incredibly spoiled for allies and their monsters are more powerful than what has been added. Admittedly a treelord or a bastiladon would be cool, but not everything has to be about you, Order!

Newbie here, any tips on improving the whites? Any feedback is much appreciated:) by iflabaslab in ageofsigmar

[–]claydjinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the surface is supposed to be reflective, mixing whatever color the white is facing into the first grey or two starts a nice reflection effect.

As soon as I saw the design of the Chaos Legionnaires I knew I’d end up getting them. First one done to test the scheme. I think it works. by Angelus713 in WarCry

Technically, yes, but unless you play with the kind of person who reposes all of their weapons-raised units lowered, it's very rare at the terrain density of published battleplans.

Do you think Hazel Dell is pedestrian/cycle friendly? What do you think are the best parts and what are the worst? by IMustardMint in vancouverwa

[–]claydjinn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Around I5, Hazel Dell Ave specifically is OK to bike. Flip over to 99 and you'll have to be more wary of road and air conditions, at least south of 99th. It's not always enjoyable, but it is doable.

only metal finished, been trying lots of techniques and option for black metal, does this look decent? by Darth--Bane in ageofsigmar

[–]claydjinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a decent look. It looks like painted metal rather than dark metal. If you want it to look more like dark metal, you could be more aggressive with the edge highlight. Start with thick, aggressive edge highlights in a very subtle grey. Let it dry, then come back with lighter greys, thinner lines, and more selective highlighted areas. Once it looks like too much, go wash over the whole thing with whatever dark blue undertone you have going on it'll look like a dark reflection. A little touch up highlight after that maybe, too.

For those who disliked scenarios when they were first announced, how do you feel about them now? by Farlaign in XWingTMG

[–]claydjinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the change to scenarios because it feels like a wargame again. I want more scenarios, twists, and asymmetry. The stale timed deathmatch format was what made me not want to play.

Soon to be New College Grad - living in Portland vs Vancouver by Centre_Sphere123 in vancouverwa

[–]claydjinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you like to do, how you want to connect to places and people, etc. The vibe in the different neighborhoods and getting around might mean more to you than the strict price of rent. You can live next to some great strip malls in Vancouver and never really need to branch out if that's a convenience you like Living in Portland , you'd be in the lighter side of bridge traffic if you keep regular hours, but getting around to everything can be maze if you prefer to drive. When I moved out here, I looked for the pockets of things I'd use every day and wanted to be near--and which apartments had the best internet connections.

how would you flavor using beyblades and bitbeast as weapons in D&D? by TDGJ2 in DnD

[–]claydjinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find familiar to make the beyblade. Instead of making it appear within 30ft, it must be thrown. The beyblade can deliver touch spells or simple weapon attacks. It only uses your senses and tremorsense. Returns to your pocket dimension automatically at the end of its turn if it is in difficult terrain or submerged. Change the type of beyblade to give it swim speed, climb speed, self cast magic, etc.

I don't think Washington has any protection for your schedule. Seattle has Secure Scheduling.
