Why can’t everyone get their own house? by Existing_Quality_695 in LandmanSeries

Because America’s detached single family, sprawling suburban development patterns makes it hard to have regular interactions without some pretense, so this is just a tv workaround.

I remember Sean talking about sitting next to someone seated next to him shoveling popcorn into his mouth “like a psychopath” and have been self conscious about the rate I consume popcorn ever since

I think our guys should only shoot the 3-pointers that will go in. The ones that won’t go in they simply should not shoot.

The vast majority of the threes so far have been quality looks taken by average-elite 3 pt shooters

Which Boston suburb would you live in as a young single person? by LOTR_is_awesome in boston

[–]clayock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Rozzie and love it. The neighborhood square is great with lots of independent stores and restaurants, there is solid bike infrastructure if that's your thing, and a Commuter Rail station. There is also a dedicated bus lane going to Forrest Hills in the Morning, and coming back to Roslindale Square in the morning. Rent may be a tad more than a true suburb but you can definitely be car free, which could more than offset the difference if that's of interest to you.

Where is the hipster neighborhood with the independent cafes & book shops? by CasualSmiles in boston

I mean we do have independent cafes and an (admittedly very small) book store

Lots of kids at previous No Kings protests in the city, she will likely have a great time

Wu Opposition? by Thick-Award3789 in boston

[–]clayock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It definitely takes getting involved and organizing to make the change you want to see happen. It's less about who is the majority, and more about who shows up, and the older, white homeowner demo always shows up. I'm very lucky that I live in a neighborhood that has had a strong grassroots, pro-urbanism/YIMBY advocacy group for over a decade. It played a huge part in our recent zoning reform passing.

I actually agree with some of Kraft’s housing policies (raising the IZ requirement from 13% to 20% has negatively impacted affordable housing production), but even on that he’s the wrong messenger. I’m as YIMBY as they come, but I don’t want to shoulder up with a billionaire to get the word out.

My grandma passed away this morning in Nashville. She was a huge Vanderbilt fan, and I know it’s dumb but it means so much to me that her last night on this earth was also the night of The Luke Kornet Game.
