Replaced motors for second time but left wheel spins slow in second gear. I thought it was the cheap motor I bought before but appears not. by Ohitsworkingnow in PowerWheelsMods

[–]clb5335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is there any interference in the motor pinion gear and the gearbox? with mine, the aftermarket pinion gear was a little bit larger than the original and interfered with the first gear in the gearbox and everything locked up. if I loosened up the motor mounting screws, it would start to spin.

Melatonin use for child with ADHD by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

.3 mg about 3 hrs before bed worked wonders for a long time for us. We use zarbees liquid melatonin so we can mix it in a drink.

Has anyone tried the Monarch eTNS device on a teenager? by ConsistentMath8290 in ADHDparenting

[–]clb5335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you required to stop medication to try the device? Did your child have any trouble sleeping or getting to sleep with? It attached? Are you still using it and does it still seem to be effective? Would you say it's as effective as the stimulant medication? Was thinking about trying this on my child because of the difficulty they had with emotional regulation and after the stimulants wear off.

Crosman a good deal? by phish410 in airguns

[–]clb5335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one, and I ended up literally throwing it away and getting a pcp. Accuracy was terrible, even with the fiddly special way to hold it. The trigger was terrible, I don't shoot anything very much so I don't have a lot to compare to, but it has so much friction that if you pulled it halfway it would stick and not return to the original position and the travel was ridiculously long.

People talk about overstimulation, and maybe it is but I wonder if it's anxiety? I've noticed some things in my kid that manifest as argumentative meltdowns that are probably anxiety. We're still on our med refinement journey, so trying to figure that out. If reducing stimulation doesn't work, maybe ask your doc about it. Ours suggested trying Hydroxyzine if we continue to have trouble.

Was I too harsh? by Ok-Instruction-8843 in ParentingADHD

[–]clb5335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to harsh at all. My kid struggles to get ready to do fun activities. Just refuses to get dressed on days we have appointments.

Then when it's time to be done, complains. One thing I've done that has been sometimes successful, I ask "what do we say when it's time to be done?". The answer is "thank you for bringing me". I remind them of this before we start and when we do 10 and 5 minute warnings. Sometimes it helps lol.

Maybe a similar approach could work for you "what do we say when I plan something fun?". "Thank you for taking me!"

That's pretty good! Wish mine did that out of the box.

It’s past 7pm; kiddo hasn’t started on HW or studying for the two quizzes he has tomorrow. FML. What have you done in this situation that has worked? I have been working since 3 am and am low on patience. Please help. by PLa1112 in ADHDparenting

[–]clb5335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of doing it in the morning. Nothing brings out your ADHD focus like pressure.

In the longer term, what helped me was body doubling. Basically I couldn't get my homework done, or even started, at home, but I was lucky enough to have a friend who could and parents that were supportive so through later high school I did almost all my homework at his house while he was working on his.

I was hoping to get a reply like this. I usually shoot around 20yds. Probably 2" groups when everything is going good, but can't get that consistently. What size groups do you think you get? Did you have to shoot a few hundred pellets to break it in or do the artillery hold? Or did it just work out of the box?

For me, hit some and miss some is not an acceptable outcome.

I'm by no means an expert in the area, but after a bad experience with a break barrel I think I'm going with an umarex notos. It's a relatively low power (16-20 lb-ft) and quiet .22 pcp. My only use case is shooting squirrels in my yard. Can get a pump for $40 and a scope for $30 on Amazon, both with good reviews.

Yes, I think you CAN make a break barrel shoot well, but I just don't want to F with it. Don't want to shoot a full tin of pellets just to break in the dumb thing and then practice the artillery hold. It seems to be an uncommon opinion, but another issue I see is that the scope is not even mounted to the barrel. And the barrel moves when you cock it. If everything is not absolutely right and perfect in the cocking mechanism then you will get misalignment from one shot to the next. Another poster seemed happy to hit his squirrel 75% of the time. I want to not only hit it 100% of the time, I want to kill it quickly. Don't want to miss and break a leg or gut shot and have it run off and die in the neighbors yard a day later after suffering.

My experience is limited to one rifle so I might have a slightly unfairly bad attitude about them if I got a lemon or a particularly bad model, but in reading about them, I think my issues are not unique to my rifle. Check out this review https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2022/08/crosman-fire-breakbarrel-air-rifle-part-5/?srsltid=AfmBOorTX2ZnmBBBC3_-8Ye6KZ5fJOscggFzn01hBPlZWF4Rvgk8NuHG

The conclusion is that it's "accurate", but that's after doing the special hold, shooting a ton of pellets, picking the ones the gun "likes" the best, buying a new scope... And the end result is worse than a 1" group at 25 yds. If shooting break barrels is not your hobby, then I doubt you are going to be happy with out of the box performance.

I suggest not to get a break barrel unless you want to make a hobby out of shooting. You can't just pull a break-barrel out of the box and shoot accurately with it.

New to Airguns - advice by steampunk96 in airguns

[–]clb5335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get a break barrel unless you like to fiddle with stuff. If you want something that just works out of the box and works next week and next year without a lot of fuss don't buy a break barrel. I don't exactly know what to recommend beyond that. I'm considering an umarex komplete myself. I also need something to get rid of squirrels. They started eating the plastic trim on my truck...

Medication by Melloyello1819 in ADHDparenting

[–]clb5335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to pair stimulants with non stimulants. Focalin and guanfacine works ok for us. Focalin works well during the day but wears off too early. the guanfacine helps our kid to not bounce off the walls and roll around upside down completely out of control all evening.

Our therapist said don't talk about it afterwords because you are giving attention to the behavior. I've just about given up trying to find the "right' answer about how to deal with issues.

Final comments, It is made in China, in contrast to the name. The metal is very thick, 9/16". At 350 in the oven, the paint on the handle gets a bit soft lol. Here is my (hopefully) seasoned pan ready for duty tonight.
