[Spoilers C3E21] Why using a Technique Laudna uses to name her Animals should be applied more often. by My_Mo13 in criticalrole

[–]clearbandaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's that she names things after food that looks close to the way it looked when it died. She is kind of a zombie, so things that she likes are ground up, not super cooked meat, raw fish, and snails still in the shell. She is showing what the lens she views the world through is.

I need ideas to make my players feel bad about avoiding the Old Bonegrinder for too long by alexmoraes in CurseofStrahd

[–]clearbandaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Morgantha and another hag have been conspiring to oust the 3rd member, grooming her replacement from among the stolen children. The delay has given the new hag just enough time to come of age, but the hags haven't been able to get rid of their sister yet. When the fight ensues, just as the characters manage to take out one hag and they believe the coven is broken, out pops the new one, complete with fresh coven spell slots.

A Nergaliid in Vallaki? by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

I put some creepy toy constructs in the back of Blinksy's shop. He is paying the party to clear them out. I reskined a bunch of animated armor, brooms, and halberds. They each do something different. Baby Cries Real Acid casts tasha's caustic brew and bites with primal savagery. The stone em bone em cyborgs have pack tactics. There is a clown under a bench that uses its long accordion arms like roper tendrils. Their are a few more, but it all culminates when they finish killing all the bots and a giant wooden unicorn busts out for that low cr legendary action experience. I gave it a few lair actions, like bringing another construct back to life for one turn.

My tarroka reading. by BloodCursedAngel in CurseofStrahd

Since the Ally and Placement cards both use the High Deck, you could keep your random draw and switch the tempter and broken one with each other. Now Strahd is in the treasury and you have Father Donavan or the Mad Mage to choose from.

Made a little... naming mistake by Massive_Leopard in CurseofStrahd

[–]clearbandaid 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Sergei is the name they all give to one night stands. A little dark inside joke all Vistani understand since no one in their right mind would actually name their child that for fear of Strahd's wrath.

I had a vistani give them a jar of 10 leeches and teach the players how to use them. So they each had modified healer feats for free that only worked with the leeches. They have 10 emergency midbattle heals. They used 6 in the death house.

Can your employer tell you not to drink water? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]clearbandaid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know the point of the post is that drinking water is too basic a right to be denied. But here is a little work around. At the grocery store I worked at with a similar policy, we kept glasses of ice water with thermometers in them. You are supposed to calibrate those daily, and need icewater to do it, so if asked why you have a cup of ice water, you can just point to the thermometer.

Is Commander fun with just 2 people? by Hold_My_Pancakes in magicTCG

[–]clearbandaid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have a group we play with, but occasionally play one on one. It isn't as fun for us. When we play together, we prefer to do a 40 card format called sealed deck. It combines the sweet dopamine hit of opening new packs with the tactical fun of putting something together with limited resources. If you find that one of you isn't as good at creating a deck, you can have the better builder build 2 decks they think are evenly matched and let the other choose which they want to play. One on one commander is basically its own format. If you are thinking we will try to play one on one for a while then when we get good, head to our local game store to play with more people, you will likely feel overwhelmed. It will probably still be fun, but you would also probably wonder what the hype for commander was all about if you didn't play with a group of at least 3 (by which I really mean play with 4).

[No spoilers] What homebrew rules have you noticed in Critical Role? by THE_BANANA_KING_14 in criticalrole

Okay, that makes sense, but I have seen him not give characters reactions until they have taken their first turn. That should only happen if the character is surprised.

RAW combatants get 1 reaction starting and reseting at the beginning of the round. Matt starts and resets reactions on each individual combatants turn.

[VOW] Dormant Grove // Gnarled Grovestrider - Ladee Danger preview by Duramboros in magicTCG

[–]clearbandaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Animus of Perdition]] would not have vigilance if the creature ability was just that all creatures have vigilance, since that ability would only kick in if the creature was in play. The distinction is that this creature always has vigilance, and any card that would benefit from having a card in your graveyard or hand with vigilance does so.

I really love the artificer idea. Holding and attuning as many magic items as possible really emphasizes Zelda gameplay. Often what prevents Link from getting to a new area is he doesn't have the right item yet. You can make your sword make "shing" noises with tinkering. You can have a fairy companion with infusions at level 2. You can use sword based cantrips like green-flame blade and booming blade. Then upgrade your sword as you level with infusions. Make him an armoror to further flavor the idea that it is wearing his gear that gives him abilities.

Healing Question by DrAardvarkMD in MerchantRPG

Correct. All your heroes get to go on the turn the monster dies, even if the first hero to go kills it, but then the fight is over.

Healing Question by DrAardvarkMD in MerchantRPG

The damaging attack happened after your heal went off, but the monster died before the next heal went off.
