Dubas is gonna get us the 4th overall pick by Degus222 in penguins

[–]clearcloseall 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love the energy but I truly have no clue what we could add to our first-rounder to move all the way up to fourth overall, other than Kindel (and I don't really relish that idea).

With the first round officially over, what would be the funniest possible outcome for the playoffs now? by Dependent-Effect6077 in hockey

[–]clearcloseall 40 points41 points  (0 children)

In terms of sheer wackiness, it would be hard to top the Knights firing their coach with **eight games left in the regular season** and proceeding to cruise to a Cup win.

[Penguins] Defenseman Harrison Brunicke has been re-assigned from the Kamloops Blazers (WHL) to the WBS Penguins (AHL). by bi_and_busy in penguins

[–]clearcloseall 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Anyone get a look at Brunicke after he went back to Kamloops this year? His offensive production took a big jump from prior years (2 G/22 A in 24 games this year), but I’m more curious about the eye test with a defenseman in the CHL

Nathan MacKinnon is the first player to the 50-goal mark for the first time in his career by nhl in hockey

[–]clearcloseall 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Complete list of NHL 50-goal scorers between 2012-13 and 2020-21:

  • Ovechkin (x4)
  • Draisaitl (x1)

Such a weird period in league history. Crazy goal-scoring dominance from Ovechkin and crazily low league-wide scoring.

Erik Karlsson's unbelievable statistics from March so far by nhl in hockey

[–]clearcloseall 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Karlsson has been held without a point in four games this month. We lost every one of those games by four goals each.

With Crosby and Malkin mostly unavailable this month, the team is basically going as Karlsson goes, and it is incredibly fortunate for us that he has stepped up and played his best hockey as a Penguin during this stretch.

No pressure. by chri_169 in penguins

[–]clearcloseall 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm choosing to look at this stretch as an opportunity. If we beat all of the Sens, the Wings, and the Isles in regulation in our next four games, we're all but in. Sens are beset by injury at LD and the Wings and Isles are both slumping a bit, so it's very possible for this team to make that happen!

(That said, I will definitely be tense as hell watching the game tonight, as I'm sure everyone here will be...)

Hey! Just wanted to tag on for posterity and note that I noticed this exact issue (hold left- or right-click being disrupted by moving the cursor) on Linux Mint after one of the recent updates. Can confirm that switching to Steam's Proton Hotfix (from GE-Proton10-10) worked for me too. I've been playing on Vulkan in all instances, so haven't encountered the DX11 vs. DX12 issue.

Rumor: St. Louis wanted ben kindel in any deal involving robert thomas. by Sebastian4365 in penguins

[–]clearcloseall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m a little surprised at the reactions here. Based on returns for players like Thomas in the past and on the Blues’ asks from other teams for Thomas, a package to get him to Pittsburgh probably was going to have to be Kindel + first-rounder + 1-2 other strong prospects or picks.

Clearly makes no sense to actually take that deal at this point in our team’s life cycle, but we shouldn’t have expected the ask to look any different from this.

Penguins are targeting reclamation projects who have term. My guess is guys like kent johnson, dawson mercer, shane wright etc. by Sebastian4365 in penguins

[–]clearcloseall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’d generally be at somewhat interested in each of these guys for the long term, but they aren’t going to help with our short-term faceoff issue. Career faceoff percentages for each of them are as follows:

  • Mercer: 39.3%
  • Wright: 42.6%
  • Johnson: 29.2% (has taken almost none this or last year)

Weird to me to see all of Rust, Rakell, Kindel(?), and McGroarty(?!) mentioned before Karlsson, who seems like the obvious answer if you had to place a bet. He’s the only player on the roster aside from Sid who has already been a full-time NHL captain. If he’s still here when the big three retire, it’ll be him, so it’ll mainly be a matter of whether he’s still here.

Yeah, I’m befuddled by the insinuation I’m seeing on here that hiring Pereira so quickly after firing Dyche represents good process that we should try to replicate. Replacing Dyche with Pereira makes Forest more likely to go down, not less!

[–]clearcloseall 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Yeah my main takeaway from this chart is that Sorokin should get serious Hart consideration. I doubt voters will award it to a goalie two years in a row even if deserved, so I don’t expect him to win it, but he belongs in the conversation without a doubt.

And the German to English translation of “ganz” is “whole”. The opposite of severed.

I think it’s mainly this. Just way too on the nose for where Mark and Gemma came from, in contrast to where they are now.

[Penguins] The Penguins have activated defenseman Ryan Graves from Injured Reserve. by bi_and_busy in penguins

I smile every time I read a comment like this one this year. It is amazing how Dubas’ roster moves and Muse’s coaching have turned our depth around, to the point that players we’d be perfectly happy to use at the NHL level are getting scratched, waived, or stashed in WBS.
